This is actually an Express Deal.

I checked the one 4* hotel listed on the BFT hotels list, and found that the Sheraton Malpensa was charging a minimum of E 117/night. I then clicked on the link and tried Name Your Own Price, bidding $50 for a 4* at Malpensa Airport. The bid was rejected out of hand. There were no free rebids, since every zone in Milan has 4* hotels.  I could have waited and tried again later, in the hope that some inventory would come into the system. But it just didn't seem worthwhile when there was a 4* Express Deal for $55. So, just caved and went for the Express Deal. The hotel turned out to be a Hilton Garden Inn, which has pretty good reviews on TripAdvisor.

Is the date correct? For August 11, the retail rate for this hotel is currently $61 and the 4* Express Deal for this zone is $43.

Date is correct. Lowest retail rate for that day is indeed $62. So not a huge saving. But something.

Of course, if more people posted about European hotels on BFT, there would have been more information out there,  and I might have saved even more. But I'm not complaining. $55 for a decent hotel, rated on TripAdvisor about the same as the E117 Sheraton, is not a bad deal.
