I have bid up to $174 per night for a 4.5 star in Punta Cana with no luck.  It has a casino and is all inclusive.  It is listed for $600 per night before bidding.  I just started bidding today.  I clicked on the priceline link here on this website to make my bid.  I will try my best to continue to do that.  Not too many bids listed here for Dominican Republic.

We've actually never seen a winning bid in Santo Domingo higher than a 3* and based on the current Express Deals, it's very unlikely Priceline has any 4.5* inventory at this time. I suspect you are bidding too low based on that retail rate. Hotwire does have a 5* (which may be a Priceline 4.5*) for $218/night for your dates at this time. I would monitor that in addition to monitoring Priceline Express Deals. What is the name of the listed $600/night hotel?

Please place your Priceline/Hotwire bids/purchases through the link in my signature or by clicking the Priceline/Hotwire banners on the right side of the screen and do not bid through a Priceline email. And please keep Priceline in mind for your conventional travel bookings as well.

I placed my bid through the link on this site.
I bid again today for my trip to the DR.  Jan. 31 through Feb, 4.  I bid $173 for a 4.5 star in the Punta Cana/Bavaro zone (#7). Rejected.  I am willing to wait until about 10 days before going to make some real serious bids.  Until then I will continue to low ball it each day.

Thanks for the followup. Is there an Express Deal now for 4.5? If so, how much is it? I think you are wasting your time bidding that low based on that $600 rate. I wouldn't start any lower than $250/night.

I added a zone and re-bid $211 and was rejected.  Placed bid through the link here.  I am looking for a counter offer so I know I'm getting close! If you don't mind me saying this......take it down or edit it but Booking.com shows availability and it is easy to determine which hotels are sold out or may sell out soon. It is a good source to determine which hotels are available as winners.

As to hoping for a counteroffer to project availability, this is addressed in our Hotel FAQ. It seems as though Priceline is onto that trick. They always want the upper hand.

I have now bid up to $241 using zones that do not have the 4.5 star rating.  Not even a counter offer.  I think it may be better at this price point to pick the resort I want.  The trade off in price at this point may not be worth the uncertainty.

Based on that retail rate you posted and today's comment, your expectations were not realistic. That said, I'm still not too confident Priceline had any opaque inventory for your dates at this time regardless of the lack of a counteroffer which we've learned means nothing.

I have bid up to and past my limit. I can book a 4 star on express deals for $890, with insurance. It is all inclusive, casino, indoor and outdoor swimming pool and business center. I think I should do this today. Can you offer any advice? If you could also leave a link to click through to make the reservation, it would be appreciated.

Thanks!
