Resort fees are prevalent in certain zones. Keep in mind that some hotels charge excessive resort fees which you may be unable to dispute as Priceline now states on their website that these fees are your responsibility.

Hi there, Looking for highest-end properties on the Big Island, Waikoloa area.  I do not want to win the Hilton Waikoloa. While very nice, that property is too ridiculously large with the slowest tram on the planet for my needs on this trip. Been there done that.

Does the Fairmont Orchid ever show up in Priceline?  Is the 4.5* really only the Mauna Kea?  When I look at express deals showing a 4.5*, is that definitively the Mauna Kea?  Currently showing a 4.5* option at $207. The Mauna Kea nightly rate is over $400.

Thanks for helping with a couple of these answers. I can formulate a bidding strategy, just needed to ask these questions.

The best way to get your answers is to check Priceline's website. BiddingForTravel.com Hotel Lists are merely a compilation of what has been posted as has been clearly indicated. And the possible hotels are shown merely as a convenience. As I've said before, any hotel is a possibility on Priceline. Please keep the progress of this bid updated on this thread.

I'm pretty sure that 4.5* Express Deal is the Fairmont.

Is the star level displayed in Express Deals the same as the star level used when bidding for an area?

Well, I think I answered my own question through the persistence of bidding. Here's what happened.
For the past week, Express Deals for Kona (Waikoloa) 4.5* has shown $207. No matter what, $207. I know I didn't want certain hotels in Waikoloa so I stayed away from 4* for that reason. And I was intrigued and prepared to spend for Fairmont Orchid as Costco had a deal with a rental car included, etc. But I like to still spin the wheel and go for a lower price, never truly accepting the prepackaged deals which are not always the best savings.

Since I am bidding 4.5* there is only one zone which contains this and that's Waikoloa. That means I get a good handful of free rebids. I had a little time to waste, so here's what I did:

1/23-1/30 (fri-fri) 4.5* Waikoloa (through every step, Express Deals tab kept showing $207 for 4.5*)

1. Waikoloa @ $155, rejected
2. Waikoloa+Hilo @ $175, rejected
3. Waikoloa+Kona @ $187, rejected (i like the number 87)
4. Waikoloa+Hilo+Kona @ $197, rejected
5. Waikoloa+Volcano @ $199, rejected (knew I still had a couple of rebids and did not plan on going over $207 since Express Deals was there already.)
6. Waikoloa+Volcano+Hilo @ $201, rejected
7. Waikoloa+Volcano+Kona @ $205, ACCEPTED! Only $2 less than the Express Deals page.
8. last free rebid did not use (Waikoloa+Volcano+Kona+Hilo)

BEST rate at Fairmont booking directly was $287.night. Ironically this rate was NOT under their "Best Available Rate" section. That was $359. A little further down, a "seasonal offer one-night 20% off" offer was there but allowed that rate on each night. Still a 28% savings is REAL dough at $205 priceline vs $287 Fairmont direct. Thank you BFT for helping me sharpen my skills!

FYI amenities on Express Deals: swimming, dog paw, weights, printer, bed choice available, 9+ Guest Favorite
amenities on winning bid response with Fairmont Orchid: Pet Friendly, Outdoor Pool, Spa, Non-Smoking, Gym, Handicap Accessible, Business Center
