We accessed Priceline through the BFT Link.

We needed one room for one night.  We plan to drive to Chicago, arriving late Thursday afternoon.  My son has a business meeting on Friday morning in downtown Chicago, and I have a meeting scheduled for Friday afternoon in the Chicago O'Hare Airport area.

The 4* hotels in downtown Chicago were very expensive on Thursday evening, plus the additional cost of overnight parking.

The hotels in the O'Hare area were priced a little better, but the nicer ones still charge for overnight parking.

Schaumburg is 14 miles west of O'Hare Airport, and the only 4.5 Star Priceline Hotel in Schaumburg is the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel.  This hotel has free parking, free internet, and a Priceline Customer Rating of 9.3 out of 10.

I had been watching the Express Deals for Schaumburg for the past week, and there was a 4.5 Star hotel Express Deal listed for approximately $170 for Thursday night.  We had also considered arriving in Chicago early on Friday, and staying overnight on Saturday instead.  For the past week the Friday night Schaumburg Express Deals showed the 4.5* for $101.

However, at approximately 5:30 pm this afternoon, a 4.5 Schaumburg Express Deal popped up, coming down to $82 for Thursday night.  The Friday night 4.5 Star Express Deal had actually gone up to $105.

There are 15 free rebids in the Chicago Suburbs area for a 4.5* hotel, so we had almost unlimited free rebids.

We bid $67, and received a counter offer of $79.  We rejected and bid $68, and were rejected.  We then bid $69, and were accepted.  Total price with fees and taxes was $84.02.  Priceline said we saved 74%.

The Priceline Retail price for Thursday night was $228, which Priceline said was discounted from the normal price of $374.  The Renaissance web site was at $269.

Mapquest says that the trip from Schaumburg to Downtown Chicago is 1 Hour and 3 minutes in heavy traffic.  The drive from the O'Hare area to Downtown is 57 minutes, so even though Schaumburg is 14 miles further west, it will hopefully be a reasonable commute.

This appears to be a very nice hotel, and it has been years since we have gotten this good a discount on Priceline hotels!
