Started with 2.5* in hopes of getting near the airport, avoiding this hotel and of course PL bumped me up to this place, it's ok, been here before, just a bit urban.

Thank you for placing your bid through our link to Priceline. Upgrades are not uncommon, especially when you don't want one.

Interestingly (fortunately?), a number of lesser hotels immediately adjacent to the airport are now excluded from Priceline's bidding zone, the way it's drawn.  Actually, at present, we don't know of any hotels under 3* that have been won on Priceline's NYOP system in the present zone.

I just rechecked Moline and that's not what I found. The La Quinta is still in the bidding zone for Moline; it's one of a cluster of hotels just inside the boundary on the south side. The hotel that was the Ramada is now outside the boundary, but it may be closed.

tilepusher, When I look at Priceline's zone boundary for Moline, which is the final authority for bidding, the entire zone is north of the Rock River. The airport is south of the Rock River. The other critical factor, of course, is the physical location of the hotel. Unfortunately, when you looked up the mapped location of the LaQuinta on Priceline's retail site, you were led astray. PL's retail maps use Bing map data, which incorrectly locate the LaQuinta. Google maps, and the LaQuinta website maps, clearly locate the LaQuinta south of the Rock River, outside the Moline bidding zone. Which is the true location--you can see the LaQuinta using Google's street-view at its true location.

Other hotels south of the Rock River near the Moline airport, and thus outside the Moline bidding zone, include: America's Best Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites, Day's Inn & Suites, Motel 6, and Ramada Conf. Ctr. (if it's still open).

So I'm afraid you'll need to re-correct the BFT hotel list back to the way I had it 2 weeks ago.

Good catch, KeenWink! However, there's a good chance that Priceline's maps prevail when determining zone placement, so I wouldn't be surprised if receiving the La Quinta through NYOP is still possible. I've made a note of the error on the hotel list.

I agree that PL maps prevail for setting the zone boundaries, and I believe physical reality prevails for the location of hotels. I have received a refund in the past for winning a hotel that was 1/4 mile outside of the zone boundary. As always, "Knowledge Is Power!".
