Started bidding today on an upcoming San Diego trip. Started with a 3.5* room in the Del Mar area. Hotel websites showed rates ranging from $179 to $283. PL Express deal showed a room for $154. started bidding at $90 and increased by $2 using free rebids to $110 and was denied. Decided to try a 3* in the same area. Hotel Websites showed rates from $209 to $278. PL Express Deal for a 3* room in this area showed up at $168 (which was interestingly higher than the 3.5* room). Given these comparable prices and the fact that I only had 1 free rebid, I decided to start over and bid $112 for a 3* room in the Del Mar area. To my surprise, it was immediately accepted. I got the Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Del Mar, whose website and PL prices were $278 and $269 per night. It's possible that I may have gotten a better deal had I started at a lower price, but overall I'm satisfied with this hotel and location. I used the BFT PL link to bid.

Thank you for posting your bid, and for bidding through our Priceline link. Checking different browsers, I found a 3* Express Deal for this zone at $122, so I doubt you overbid by much.
Please place all of your Priceline bids through our Priceline link.
Please check rates at Hotwire and make your bookings through our Hotwire link.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm glad that I didn't overbid too much. I had no idea that by using different browsers, you could get different Express Deal offers. Is this explained in a previous post? If so, could you reply with the link so I can read up on this phenomenon? Thanks!
