Just booked a room here with priceline.com for $26.00 + $10.00 bonus cash.

What's weird is this: I tried bidding $36.00 (total) for a 3* in the North area.  It very quickly turned me down.  So, I added the West area, but did not increase my bid.  It then took the bid and put me in the Capitol Plaza, which is in the North area.  I'm excited about getting such a deal, but no free breakfast.  What the ...?!?

Thank you for posting your bid. We hear weird things like this periodically. It makes no sense. Not all hotels serve a free breakfast. What are your travel dates?

Stayed at the Capitol Plaza on Thursday, May 3, 2012.

It is a very nice hotel, but I certainly wouldn't consider it a 3 star facility.

What would you consider it then? 3* hotels aren't fancy? Most of them are Holiday Inns, Courtyards, Hyatt Places and similar. Does Priceline still use the erroneous "Upscale?"

I would consider it to be a 2 star, maybe 2 1/2 star, hotel.  I am comparing it to the Fairfield Inn in Topeka, which is where priceline usually puts me.  It's 2-star and I think it's just as nice.  The Capitol Plaza is much larger and has a bar and restaurant.
