We accessed Priceline through the BFT link.
Today, Sunday April 23, 2017, we needed one room for one night for a client for the same night. Last night we were able to get the 4 Star Westin Detroit Airport for $73, while Priceline was advertising an Express Deal of $85.00. Today the Westin was $299 retail, with an Express Deal available for $199.
This Priceline Express Deal was $48.00 for a 2.5 star in the Deroit Airport zone, with a Priceline customer rating of 7.5 out of 10.
Priceline said the savings were 18%.
The listed amenities were free Parking, free Breakfast, and free Internet.
A comparison to the Priceline 2.5 star hotels in the Detroit Airport zone showed this was the Quality Inn. There was also a 2.5 star Holiday Inn Express, but the Holiday Inn had a retail price of $105.00, well over the 18% savings shown in the Express Deal.
The Quality Inn website lowest rate was $55.00 per night. Priceline's retail site was at $59.00.
There were several other 2.5 star hotels in this zone, but all had lower Priceline Customer satisfaction ratings.
Therefore, we just went with the Express Deal to insure we would not bid and receive a hotel with a lower Customer Rating.
