Been collecting and building the beginnings of my ne Empire Army for what seems like ages now. Had precious little time to paint my own stuff though.

I have managed to get a couple of things done so though I'd start my Plog. Will keep adding to it as and when I can..

Oddly, the first couple of miniatures I've got painted are actually Dwarfs! Picked these up at a bargain price and they're such lovely minis I couldn't resist adding them!

I figure Averland had a strong connection with the Dwarfs (Black Fire Pass and that) that it would be cool to have a smattering of them in my army.

Will use this chap as a Captain of the Empire or just a unit champion. Loved this mini since I was a kid! Replaced his sword though as it was a bit basic on the original. Took a lot of guts to take the clippers to such a classic vintage mini!

This next one I will use as a Master Engineer to help fire my War-machines. Made him a telescope with under-slung rifle. Just because.

Also got my Warrior Priest done. Rick von Priestly

And just finished today! My first 2 Flagellants. 2 down, 38 more to go..

I'll also post a few of the units I'm building. They're all a work in progress and I'm not totally sure what I'm actually doing with them yet so any feedback is appreciated.

Here's the Flagellants as they stand now. Added some extra bit and pieces, but 20 isn't going to cut it. Going to need to double that I think. Not sure how good they actually are, but they're so cool, I have to have the in my army regardless. Will have to build some unit fillers for sure.

My Knights of the Blazing Sun so far.. Very much a work in progress. Wanted to base them very roughly on the this really cool artwork but liked the idea of the gilded face masks too. Will be a unit of 10 when finished.

Feedback and criticism is appreciated! I'll post more when I have more to post. Hopefully soon!

Wow, really good work going on here.

I love the idea of mixing in a few Dwarves, showing the strong link between the empire and the dwarves, especially in the area you have based your force. Great idea of using the classic minis too.

The priest is excellent, very brooding.

And the 'Father Ted,' influence with the painted flagellants had me chuckling, nice work.

I like your idea with the knights and look forward to seeing the finished articles.

Great work so far.

What can I say, awesome painting. The dwarf is a miniature I recognise from many moons ago. One of my favourite little stunties (to crush under an Orc foot of course ;-) )

I still have a few of those imperial fellas, great minis although mine remain depressingly unpainted - probably forever more - like most of my other armies.

I don;t know where you find the time, truly inspiring stuff again PbyG, congrats.

Thanks!

Just done another Flaggie today, yeah had lots of fun with those. Posted them on Twitter last night and by the morning I had a "Ha!!" from Graham Linehan the writer of Father Ted.. Nice! :)

Yeah, I've seen the official parts for the Knights of the Blazing Sun. They're a bit ropey looking in my opinion so trying something else. Still think my Knights need a little something though.. Will keep playing :)

Just finished my Flagellants! Took a while!

When I say finished.. Will need more.. Probably twice as many.

That said, I've only just bothered to work out how much these cost out of my Special Allowance and it's dawned on me why I don't hear of anyone taking them. Do'h!

Very, very characterful and wonderfully painted army, G :) Rick Von Priestly (love the name) is my favourite!

Looking forward to see more...

Another Dwarf for my Empire! This model is so perfect for my army, couldn't believe my luck. £20 paid fairly happily :)

I love the Flagellents. Superb idea, painting, and representation. I would love to see this army in action when you'd finished it.

Apologise for the serious threadomancy, but I'd like to ask if G has still got this army, and if so, have you switched to AoS, or will you continue to play 8th Ed. and 9th Age?
