On tonights update I have announced the address for the new AMI Forum. This new Forum allows you as a visitor to do a range of things that is currently unavailable to you on Network54.

To log into the new Forum all you need is to have a valid email address, but don't panic - no-one will see it.

The new forum will allow you to do the following things (at least):

- Send Personal Messages (PM's)

- View all new topics or updated topics on the press of one button. Or you can view only the areas you are interested in.

- You can mark all the new/updated topics as read with the click of one button.

- Personalise your logon to your tastes, including adding an image.

For moderators it allows a range of things for us to do including moving topics around between areas, something that has been missing with N54 but desperately needed. It also allows us to put 'stickies' on the Forum with pertinent information that needs to be kept in view rather than hiding back a few pages. There are heaps of new things that can be done on the new software and I am still learning as I am sure you will as well. Please explore it and tell others what you can do.

The observant amongst you may notice that the Forum is on a .com.au address, this is part of my drive to make AMI more 'Australian' and show up better on search engines. I will eventualy be converting the whole site to the .com.au address but you will still be able to access the site via the old address.

The old (N54) forum will not be deleted but I will keep it as an archive due to all the great information on it. In a weeks time any new posts on the N54 Forum will be locked and requested to be put on the new forum.

I am sure that I will receive complaints about the change of Forum but the site does need to move forward and new Forum software is only part of the changes I plan to make to the site to make it better and more relevent.

If you have any suggestions on new types of Forums by all means either post them on the new forum or email me.

The new forum is at:

Please sign up and support the forum.

If you copy and paste the link or 'right click - new tab/window' you may find that it will work. I remember we had this problem when I tried out the newer N54 software and people were opening it by clicking on the link in the forum and it opened up in the forum screen rather than a new window. Same problem of rejecting people.

It isn't part of the Network 54 program so you will need to sign in for it.

Excellent stuff Dave. Great to see the new style.

As others have said, it looks like it will run in a similar manner to a lot of other forums now and I find the "view new posts" feature to be most useful.

Being able to flag and follow entire discussions, rather than only when someone replies to one of your own posts, is also a good thing.

Many thanks for your efforts.

Cheers,
Motty.

I had a look at the new forum and can't see where the RSS feeds are. Am I missing something.

RSS feeds are very useful for keeping track of the forums and I would be very disappointed if RSS feeds are not available.

Keep up the good work
