Hi all,
Here is what I have done so far. Coming along VERY slowly
I have started with constructing the weapons bay. The tunnel covers are milli-put to simulate the cloth covers, with copper wire for the laces. The rest is scratch built from plasticard.

Here's what the real thing looks like...

I have just returned from a 3 week stint in sunny Tindal, and managed to smuggle a little modelling gear with me.
I have finished the Nose Wheel Well apart from the little details, and made a good start on the Main Wheel Well. I am planning on building all these sub-assy's before adding them to my final build.
Here's my Nose wheel well next to a pic of the real deal.
[/img]
[/img]
The dimensions in LxBxH were taken from the kit supplied part, I decided the best course of action was to build a new one from scratch as the Academy pieces have spurious details on them and has a stepped back. This step in the kit pieces is to bring the kit nose gear to the "correct" position when fitted. This step does not exist on the real thing. What should be there is the Crew module rocket motor and, in this jets case, the Forward equipment bay's fire extinguisher.
Here's Academy's attempt..
[/img]

The Main wheel well is started Got lots to do in there but have yet to decide when to stop :deadhorse1:. I followed Raptor01's lead and used the Hasegawa wheel well as a guide. I think that it looks 100% better than the kit parts. Just have to get over my AMS and finish it now!! All the details are made from sprue and Milliput. I think it looks ok so far..

Academy's rendition..

I have nearly finished my MWW. Here's what it looks like now
[/img]
I had to massage it to make it fit with the CE intakes but it fits now.....
All the piping is solder and stretched sprue.
More to come as I finish it :P
Cheers guys!

Hi again all,
There's not much to report as life has got in the way of modelling again :P
What I have done is finish off the attachment points for the nose landing gear, and modify the nose gear to accurately show what the F-111 nose gear looks like.
Here's some pics....

More to come once life slows down a bit
Cheers guys!

Hi all,
Long time no post but I am in the process of getting ready to move house over the next few weeks so not much time for modelling
Here is what I have done, The Black box cockpit has been modified to "C" model AUP standards (pretty much any way).
I added the MFD's and moved a few gauges on the instrument panel.
[/img]
The rest of the cockpit was painted and a few additions were made. The Alt landing gear down handle was added from stretched sprue, (shot taken before the additions shown below)
[/img]
the flap covering the switches on the rear centre console was made from coke can aluminium, and the water bottles at the back were made with Milliput and some more coke can.
[/img]
Here's the seats all painted up with simulated black lambs wool seat covers.
[/img]
I am pretty happy so far, just have to finish it off so I can close the front halves up then on to the aft fuselage... wings... wheel wells... weapons bay... sigh.
AMS is a curse! lol
Cheers guys!

Hi guys,
Here is what I have been doing over the last few days. I have gone to town on the MWW but I have said "when" and "finished" it :)I did discover that the reason that the main gear struts on the kit don't fit in very well. The rear part of the wheel well is the wrong shape. It should be a straight edge, so I removed the offending pieces.
[/IMG]

And here it is finished...
[/IMG]
[/IMG]
[/IMG]

I'm working on the main gear too as it's a little on the anaemic side. I have bulked it up with some plastic card. I added the middle brace from plastic tube. I am going to redo the main struts as well. That's for another post though. Here it is so far...
Before and after shot...
[/IMG]
Where it is as of today..
[/IMG]

More to come!
Cheers guys..
