Hi Guys,

I'm sure this has been discussed here in the past, but my search for "future" got too many hits, so I'm sorry but I'm going to ask if the product "future" is available in Australia, or is it available under another name.

I want it to clean up my Tamiya F-16 canopy - my first aircraft in a loooong time.

Thanks for your help.

As Malcolm says, Pledge One-Go is the go.

It is available in most supermarkets in the section of floor cleaning products.

It looks a little cloudy in the bottle (I believe Future is transparent), but dries beautifully clear.

Whenever I dip a canopy or window, I place it on a piece of clean printer paper (paper towel has too much "lint"), then put a small drinking glass inverted over the piece to stop any dust landing or blowing onto it. I prop the glass up with a couple of toothpicks to allow some circulation.

Future is called Pledge One go here. It is exactly the same formulae, just a different name for different territories. White bottle, blue lable, the liquid is quite yellow, and has a nice refreshing lemon smell to it, great for canopies and clear parts, crap as a clear coat.

I use Johnson's Super Shine high gloss floor sealer, have had the bottle for a couple of years so don't know if it's still available.

setting solution I have ever used. Cuts out silvering on even the smallest decals which are always the worst.

I've used it severl times now, and its rubbish as a clear coat. For clear gloss I now use Alclad clear lacqor or WEM clear gloss enamel. They dont run, they are silky smooth, and have a nice sheen to them, all as opposed to pledge.

Hi Shane

Check out this site:

http://www.swannysmodels.com/TheCompleteFuture.html

It will tell you all you need to know.

I have several bottles of the US Future and I have found it is pretty good for canopies, but the Australian equivalents are better for gloss coating. I don't know if they are the best gloss coat but they works fine for me and I won't use any other. Besides I have 6 bottles to get rid of.

Be careful with the Aussie ones from memory we include ammonia in ours which can play havoc with acrylic paints if applied too heavy by brush. I use it all the time and have no problems with it on acrylics if applied in light coats. I used to spray it but find it works perfectly fine with a brush.

The Aussie one are also a whitish colour and not clear like the US version but dry perfectly clear.

Like Malclom said it is an excellent decal setter. The best by a country mile.

Also

You must let it dry for a while on a canopy before masking or you masking may affect it. Leave for as long a possible. It took me ages to figure that one out. LOL

Regards

Peter Johnstone
