Janet Jackson postpones world tour
  • 'I learned today, from my doctors that I must have surgery soon,' the singer said

Janet Jackson is postponing her Unbreakable World Tour because she “must have surgery soon,” the singer announced on her Instagram account Thursday.

Jackson kicked off the world tour in Vancouver this past August. It was scheduled to resume Jan. 9 in Denver and last through June, when it was expected to conclude in Salt Lake City.

“It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the Unbreakable Tour until the spring,” Jackson wrote on Instagram, specifying that each date would be rescheduled at some point and instructing fans to keep their tickets. “They will be honored in a special way when the new schedule is announced.”

Jackson didn’t reveal what kind of surgery she would be getting, and said there “will be no further comment” aside from the Instagram announcement.

Is Janet Jackson Pregnant? Singer Expecting First Child, Multiple Reports Claim
  • May 4, 2016

Multiple outlets claim the singer, who turns 50 on May 16, is pregnant with her first child. Entertainment Tonight was first to report the news, while a source told E! News that Jackson is reportedly in her second trimester of pregnancy after successfully working with a fertility specialist.

Jackson previously sparked speculation she is expecting when she postponed her Unbreakable World Tour so she and her husband, Qatari businessman Wissam Al Mana, 41, could focus on “planning our family,” she said in a video posted to Twitter in early April.

“We’re in the second leg of the tour, and there actually has been a sudden change,” Jackson said in the clip.

“I thought it was important that you be the first to know. My husband and I are planning our family. So I’m going to have to delay the tour.”

Janet Jackson Announces She Is Resuming Her Tour This Fall

Janet Jackson Announces State of the World Tour
  • Janet Jackson has announced a massive North American trek to reschedule her Unbreakable Tour that was postponed due to the singer's pregnancy, with Jackson set to embark on a rebranded trek starting in September.

...However, the Unbreakable Tour – titled after Jackson's 2015 album but a target of mockery because of the many postponements and cancellations the tour endured before it was indefinitely postponed with over 70 dates remaining – has undergone a name change.

"I decided to change the name of the tour: State of the World Tour," Jackson said. "It's not about politics. It's about people, the world, relationships, and just love."

...In the 90-second-long video, Jackson also briefly touched on her experiences as a mother of a newborn as well as confirmed that she and Wissam Al Mana, her husband of five years, are divorcing. "Yes, I separated from my husband. We are in court and the rest is in God's hands," she said.

Janet Jackson's new tour started.

I guess unlike Madonna, Janet Jackson showed up on time and did not take to the stage late! I remember every time Madonna goes on tour, complaints pour in on how she comes on to stage 3, 4 hours later. I didn't see any complaints like that about Janet.

Janet Is Back! Jackson Shows Off Incredible Post-Baby Body as She Kicks Off State of the World Tour
  • Janet Jackson is back!

The 51-year-old singer kicked off her highly anticipated State of the World tour on Thursday, just eight months after welcoming her first child, Eissa.

Jackson gave some serious ’90s vibes for her Lafayette, Louisiana, tour stop and even flaunted her signature all-black look.

She showed off her slim figure in form-fitting outfits as she danced and sang in performances akin to her past, high-energy displays.
Janet Jackson breaks down in tears on stage in Houston
  • Janet Jackson had an emotional moment on stage this week. Fans who attended her concert in Houston on Saturday witnessed the star begin to start crying on stage.

Jackson is on the second part of her tour, which she renamed her “State of the World tour” after putting it on hold for her pregnancy. It kicked off two days prior but something appeared to get to the singer on stage during Saturday's concert.

The moment came after her performance of the song “What About,” from her 1997 album “The Velvet Rope.” When it was over, she stopped, put her hand over her face and began to cry on stage. It took the 51-year-old singer a moment to compose herself, with the encouragement of her audience, before saying to the crowd, “this is me.”

As E Online notes, the song in question deals with themes of domestic violence. Jackson gave birth to her first child, son Eissa, about nine months ago. Meanwhile, she’s going through a divorce from his father, Wissam Al Mana, after five years of marriage.

Prior to the concert, Entertainment Tonight notes that Jackson made the most of her time in Houston, which was recently hit with Hurricane Harvey. The star reportedly surprised fans at the George R. Brown Convention Center where approximately 1,600 evacuees were staying.

You can see the moment in question in the video below, starting around the three and a half minute mark.
Janet Jackson on Tour Opening Night
  • Many thought it wouldn’t happen. But on Thursday night, in Lafayette, La., Janet Jackson not only captivated the crowd at the opening night of her State of the World tour but also had social media buzzing.

The 51-year-old singer took it way back with her ’90s-inspired wardrobe as she performed some of her classics we’ve come to love. And, yes, just in case you were wondering, of course there are video clips: (visit their page to see the clips)

On Friday, Jackson is arriving in Houston for her Saturday show but will spend the day extending a helping hand at several shelters to help with Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

Janet Jackson, 51, looks amazing in new pics shared to Instagram as she announces 11 U.S. tour dates
  • April 2018

She returned to touring last fall following the birth of her son Eissa.
And on Monday, Janet Jackson announced she's adding 11 new U.S. dates to her State of the World Tour this summer.

The 51-year-old star also shared a series of photos to her Instagram to promote the news showing her looking incredible in a layered ensemble.

The sister of the late Michael Jackson wore her caramel locks up in a top knot that spawned a long ponytail in the photos taken by her go-to photographer Solaiman Fazel.

... The Rhythm Nation hitmaker went back on the road last September for a three months series of concerts.

The latest leg of her State of the World Tour will kick off in Austin, Texas, on July 11 and will include stops in Arizona, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina and Florida, ending in Tampa on August 7.

General public tickets go on sale starting this Friday via Live Nation.

In my opinion, one of the reasons Janet (who is currently in her 50s, I believe - she's several years younger than Madonna) comes across successfully as a pop singer still - and Madonna has rather dropped the ball in this area - is because she is not a try-hard.

She (unlike Madonna) doesn't seem to be trying to be 20 years old and isn't trying to emulate the 20-somethings all the way.

It also doesn't hurt that during the 1980s and a bit into the 90s, she didn't define herself publicly as a Sex Kitten the way Madonna did. Janet did not over-rely on sexuality or sex appeal, where-as Madonna did.

I think if you're a pop singer in your 20s and you fixate on your body, looks, and sexuality, that is going to come back to get you if you still want to record and tour in your 40s and older.

Watch Janet Jackson Get Nasty At 2018 Billboard Music Awards

Janet Jackson Accepts the BBMAs Icon Award: 'Our Public Discourse Is Loud and Harsh'
  • May 20, 3018

At the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night (May 20), Janet Jackson accepted the Icon Award  -- a high honor established in 2011, and previously earned by Prince, Jennifer Lopez, Cher and more.

Before taking to the stage, Bruno Mars introduced the star as "the youngest member of the Jackson family" and rattled off her numerous accolades, from being the only artist to have 18 consecutive Top 10 hits on the Hot 100 to being the first black woman to receive the Billboard Icon Award.

And after perfoming a vibrant and high-energy mix of "Nasty," "If" and "Throb," Jackson returned to address the arena.

"Thank you Bruno, thank you Billboard..." she started, before having to pause due to the overhwelming "Janet" chant that had erupted.

"I'm deeply humbled and grateful for this award," she continued. "I believe for all our challenges, we live at a glorious moment history. It's a moment when, at long last, women have made it clear that we will no longer be controlled, manipulated or abused. I stand with those women and with those men equally outraged who support us in heart and mind. This is also a moment when our public discourse is loud and harsh."

Jackson ended her speech by thanking God, and telling fans that "everything we lack, God has in abundance."

Janet Jackson returns to stage in major comeback...
  • July 2018

Janet Jackson delivered an energetic, hits-filled New York City comeback Saturday night, headlining at the Panorama Music Festival on Randall’s Island to rave audience reviews.

“You killed #panorama yass Queen,” fan “Jojo” enthused in a tweet.

“JANET JACKSON reminded who TF she is,” tweeted another fan.

Fans tweeted that Jackson proudly announced, “I wrote my first #1 at 19 years old,” and at one point stared commandingly, and wordlessly, out over her cheering, sold-out audience.

“It’s a lot of hits, right?” the performer boasted. “There’s a lot more to come!”

It was just the distraction Jackson, 52, needed in the midst of a nasty divorce and custody battle — along with what a family source describes as “some depression” after the death of her father, Joseph, earlier this month.

“There are two things she wants to do: take care of her child and perform. This helps her get past some of her stress,” the family source said.

A Jackson family employee told The Post that the singer spent recent days preparing for the concert by “pacing and roaming around, and then she’ll go out and do a five- or six-hour workout and then she says she’s ready to work.”

When her father died, Janet’s mind was already occupied with thoughts of her brother Michael who died in June 2009, the family member said.

“Joseph was really sick, and she was thinking . . . the family was getting some sort of odd message that Joseph . . . would pass on the same day that Michael did,” the family source said.

Janet Jackson drops first song and music video in three years  - video on page

August 16, 2018

The Queen of Pop is back with a global anthem.

After a three year hiatus, Janet Jackson has returned with the release of her new single “Made For Now” in collaboration with Daddy Yankee

Daddy Yankee, who found worldwide success with smash-hit “Despacito,” is teaming up with Jackson for an Afro-beat-inspired tune that unites their global sounds.

The pair will be performing together live for the first time Thursday on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.

This has been quite the summer for the 52-year-old “Feedback” singer, who recently headlined Essence Festival in New Orleans as well as the Panorama Festival in New York.

Inspired by Jackson’s love of music from around the globe, the single is meant to move listeners to enjoy their lives and live for today. The music video — which was shot on the streets of New York City — is a block party celebration featuring international dancers from Ghana, Nigeria, Grenada, Trinidad, and the U.S.

The song is produced by Harmony Samuels, who has crafted tracks for some of music’s biggest names, including Ariana Grande, Mary J. Blige, Maroon 5, and Jennifer Lopez.
