Hey everyone. A very talented composer, Jason Robert Brown, is having a karaoke contest on his website. The rules are that you have to download a piano track of his song off of his site, record your own vocals at home, and then upload a link to the finished song on his forum so that people can vote for it. I am sending you all the direct link to my recording (which I did in about 2 takes, so please don't expect perfection) and also the email address where you have to write to Jason if you want to vote for me.

Here is the link to my recording of Jason's song, "I'm Not Afraid of anything" (from "Songs For A New World"):

Here is the link to his forum, if you would like to hear some of the other submissions (their links are posted within their comments, if you scroll down the page):

And here is the email address and how to vote for me:

jrbkaraoke2008@yahoo.com

with the subject line: "I VOTE FOR JULIE STEVENS - I'M NOT AFRAID OF ANYTHING"

You don't need to include a message.

Thanks for listening. This is all for fun - it's no "American Idol."

Oooh, I hope you'll consider posting this as a downloadable mp3 after the contest, as I totally want this on my iPod! (Although, I also can completely respect if you don't want to give it away). It's stunning. Thanks for doing it.

And, shout out to Ridiculous: even though Julie said I should vote for her, I listened to several of the other entries before I sent in my vote for Julie and, if I'd liked one of them better, I would have voted for that one. Even though Julie said to vote for her. But, in the end, I did that crazy thing where one makes a decision based on the available information, and I decided that, due to her phrasing and emotion, I liked Julie's rendition the best and voted accordingly.

Well, either that, or Julie successfully brainwashed me by posting that I should vote for her. Yeah, it was probably that.

OK, Julie, I don't get it. Why the heck aren't you starring on Broadway now? I just listened to your songs on your website and I LOVE your voice! You're beautiful and amazingly talented, so what is going on here? Do you audition anymore?

Julie, what I would do to have a voice like yours! I can definitely see you back on Broadway.

That was really nice of you to say, Tina. I live in Los Angeles now and there isn't a lot of theatre here. I do audition for theatre occasionally but I must be a hard "type" to cast. I would jump at the opportunity to do another show in New York, so maybe that will happen again someday. I'm doing a reading of a new musical in two weeks and the writer keeps saying he thinks it will go to Broadway. I think that's a lot of wishful thinking on his part.
