To anybody on here who has ever performed on stage

Ok, this question may seem weird, but was there ever a time when you were like, in the middle of a performance, and you had to pee really, REALLY badly? Or do they always make the performers (or at least the children) go to the bathroom before every performance to ensure that there are no accidents?

I'm just here laughing at the idea of some little girl playing Annie wetting her dress on stage XD

I'm by no means a professional performer, but one time I was in a school dress rehearsal and I just drank a really big soda. We weren't allowed to leave backstage with our costumes on. It was soooo uncomfortable! It wasn't too easy to dance either! I can only imagine someone having to go that bad during a long, professional performance.

There was a story a while ago on this forum about one of the Broadway orphans going to the bathroom on stage or something like that. I don't remember any of the facts (if there even were any) so I don't want to get it wrong. But if anyone remembers, what a funny situation.

Thats a pretty funny question to ask, but I actually have a story to go with it.

When I did Annie Warbucks a few years ago (playing Pepper) during the last scene of the show all of a sudden the orphan who was standing next to me (she was playing Peaches, an orphan who is only in Annie Warbucks) suddenly ran of stage in the middle of the scene. I looked over and saw a puddle on the floor where she had been standing. She peed on stage! No one else in the whole cast noticed but me, and i didnt say anything, but i am sure she was so embarassed.

Well, I don't have a story from Annie (yet) but I do have a story from when I was in the Sound of Music. I was Liesl and throughout the run I was in charge of keeping track of our Gretl and making sure she was ready and everything. We were doing a dress rehearsal and I remember asking her if she had to go to the bathroom before we started the second act after our "intermission break" and she said she was fine, so I didn't take her. Then I remmeber right before we were supposed to go on, she told me she had to go. I told her to try to hold it til we had a break in betweeen scenes and she did for a while, but then I remember waiting with her in the wings to go on for a scene, and then I turned around to bring her on stage with me and she wasn't there! haha She had run off to go to the bathroom without telling anyone. We had to play the scene without a Gretl! haha I can't remember exactly what scene it was.. but I'm pretty sure it was when Max was naming us off for the festival in the program and he was supposed to talk to her... and she had a good number of lines there... haha it was some interesting improve. And then she randomly ran on stage.. haha That was an interesting dress rehearsal!

Well, this happened to Jodi Ford in one of the original broadway casts. Here's what happened: the orphan were in the freeze of "You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile" and the other girls heard her say "I have to pee, I have to pee." The others were like "go, run offstage. Go pee." But she didn't do it, when the lights came up, there was this big puddle of pee spreading across the front of the stage. And the others were trying to dance a round the pee on the stage while the puddle was there during the song.

I have done lots and lots of shows and I have never had to go to the bathroom when I was onstage, largely because I have so much adreneline coursing through my veins when I am on stage that I would probably have a gunshot wound and woudn't feel it. If you are an Equity actor, who does 8 shows a week, you may get to the point that going on-stage is just like going to the drug store, but I am always so pumped up that I don't feel anything when I am on-stage.
