MET is a California-based (pay to be in a show) kind of organization. I did several shows with them and due to a bad experience don't recommend their program to any child exploring an interest in musical theatre.

In addition, even if you audition at the beginning roles are not guaranteed. They cast sometimes five to six actors in a role and even if you are cast, you are not guaranteed your part. About a week before the show opens they undergo a process called "challenging for a part" in which any actor who was not cast can once again audition and sometimes take the role from an actor already cast.

As a child in their productions feeling that my role could be taken from under me was a terribly scarring experience, as you can well imagine. I highly caution parents considering enrolling their child in a show in an organization like this as it is not a positive learning environment.

MET just did "Annie" again a few weeks ago and my friend played Hannigan. I saw their production of "Grease" and was stunned by how many kids they managed to get on stage (and surrounding the stage). I suppose if your kid is shy and wants to try doing theatre, the program is okay. I agree that it's not the best environment for being featured.
