Charles Strouse's new book, "Put On A Happy Face," is out, and I enjoyed it thorougly. It is a must-read for everyone on this Forum. There is lots of behind-the-scenes information on the casts and productions of Annie and its sequels, as well as his other great shows like Bye Bye Birdie. Be sure to add this one to your Annie library.

I loved how he said that he and Lee Adams (lyricist) wrote a few extra songs for the soundtrack to the film, "The Night They Raided Minsky's," and ended up slowing one of them down to a waltz (it was called "You Rat You"), changing a few lyrics, and "Something Was Missing" was born for Daddy Warbucks to sing in "Annie."

I found the book amazing also because of all the behind-the-scenes information, especially about all the recycled songs from previous shows. And now he's working on the new musical based on the Minsky's movie. He's quite tireless in his work and projects.
