Here's the new Swift kit:
Parts are nicely moulded with fine panel lines and lots of detail. The fuselage halves are complex and have a slide mould so that no detail is lost on the sheer faces. Gear bays and the cockpit are fully detailed, although the instruments are decalised which may disappoint some. The ejection seat components look sufficiently well moulded to obviate replacement in white metal or resin. The intake trunking includes a compressor face, so there is no see-through effect, similarly the jet pipe has a burner ring to blank it off. Transparencies have been something of a weakness with Airfix and I can't really report much improvement in this case. They are moulded well, are glossy, but exhibit flow marks. The decals are very nicely printed with lots of stencils for those that like that sort of thing and the whites look sufficiently dense so as not to give any see-through effect.
Instructions are the now familiar half-tone format with sub-assemblies from previous steps highlighted in a brick red colour:

All in all this is a very good looking kit, that despite the delayed UK release due to a manufacturing glitch is well worth the wait. It should build very nicely out of the box and in fact there's very little that the aftermarket people could do that would be of real benefit. I might be interested if Eduard did a PE zoom set with a nice instrument panel, placards and maybe a seat harness. If you're a fifties jet fan this is a must have and easily eclipses the Rareplanes vacform and the relatively recent Xtrakit offering. If you don't usually do fifties jets, but like nice kits, it's still worth a punt.
That looks very nice and definitely worth the wait
