So after our short lived legion book we are back to being vanilla again. Is anyone else feeling the butt hurt? Although I am not sad to see 7th end it was getting dumb. 8th edition is looking good so far. B)

I was annoyed at first - I mean, the wait was about 17 years, and then they take it away after 6 months. However, Legions rules are returning, and I hope they don't return as those 6" bubbles.

I'm quite new to Alpha Legion myself, I wanted to do something I dont see a lot of in my area, and they kind of fit the tactic's that I myself would like to think I'd use. My take on them is that they never really went into / settled in the Eye of Terror, and therefore I'm using my Heresy Marine force as Alpha Legion in 40k. As it's 99% infantry, I'm tempted to use the Marine index rather than the chaos index. I am gutted though that I've not long had the traitor legions book, and all of those cool infiltrating chosen marines I had suddenly can't again.... :(

Hello,

I will surely use the heresy marine models, and I was thinking about using the loyalist codex as well.
The legion stayed mostly outside the eye, so its gear would "mostly" be normal.
My problem is: to Primaris or not to Primaris?
I understand they are the new kids on the block, but their brewing lasted many, many millenias. Whether or not the geneseed the Alpha Legion recovered from the Raven guard is part of the Primaris project or not, do you think they should have Primaris specialists? After all, how t oinfiltrate loyalists if you d onot have any yourself? Will get harder and harder...or not?
Not sure :(

After seeing the Codex post on the community site, I'm hopeful we'll get something fluffier than just Infiltrating Chosen and Word Bearer-esque Cultist rabble. My realistic wishlist, in lieu of the FW index with Arkos, is we get bonus command points or a drop in Stratagem cost (to a minimum of 1) baked into a custom detachment or Legion rules, and maybe some redeployment, Seize the Initiative, Reinforcement prevention, and/or Infiltrate Stratagem.

The Alpha Legion didn't flee into the Eye of Terror - we disappeared on the Eastern Fringe.

Cawl has made Primaris from all 20 (!) Legion gene-seeds, so that gives you some room in the fluff. Fluff could be a Mars break-in to free the Alpha Legion Primaris Marines.

It's very doubtful the Raptor project is related to the Primaris project - there's certainly nothing to support it.

Putting together the different elements of there fluff such as the raptor project gene seed material the capturing of forge worlds and there renowned patience it would not surprise me if as part of the new developing storyline for the 41st millennium they showed up with a force far larger than any individual legion from the heresy era which they have been building on the eastern fringes for many millennia either to crush or save the teetering imperium at the last minute
Hyperchondria I dont know what that is but im sure ive got it!

I would very much doubt it. The main storyline is Humanity vs. Chaos, and the Alpha Legion's efforts have been pretty negligible as far as GW is concerned. The poster boys are the Black Legion and the Ultramarines.

Also remember, the Raptor technology was tainted by a Daemon-virus-thing that we couldn't remove.
