Controlled Hunting Area - October 15, 2013 to January 15, 2014

Ontario Parks is advising that the area shown is subject to "controlled big game hunts from October 15, 2013 to January 15, 2014".
"For your protection, please follow these safety tips:
Do not stray from the immediate area of your designated campsite.
Stay on designated Park trails and portages.
Wear bright coloured clothing when walking through the forest.

Rain Lake Road Washout - No Access
A washout on the Rain Lake Road, outside Algonquin Park, is currently preventing access to the Rain Lake Access Point and the northern access to the Western Uplands Backpacking Trail.
Backpackers wishing to access the Western Uplands Trail should start their trip from km 3 of Highway 60 until further notice.

Big Pines Trail and Parking Lot - Closed October 15, 2013 to Spring 2014

Algonquin Park's Big Pines Trail and parking lot will be closed to public travel starting October 15, 2013 until spring 2014. This closure is the result of forest management operations using the Sunday Lake Road located at the trailhead of the Big Pines Trail. Winter visitor wishing to access the Sunday Lake Dog Sledding Trail should use the alternate entrance at the Trailer Sanitary Station. More dog sledding details will become available as the winter season approaches.
Whiskey Rapids Trail Closed
Whiskey Rapids Trail is currently closed because of flooding. This interpretive trail will remain closed until water levels in the Oxtongue River drop allowing navigation of the trail. Check back for updates as conditions warrant or contact Park Information at 705 633-5572.
Highway 60 Construction - Ongoing to 2014

Scheduled road improvements to Highway 60 in Algonquin Park are underway.
This construction is from the Park's West Gate (km 0) to the Cache Lake area (km 23). This planned construction includes improvements to grading and drainage, plus hot mix paving. Single lane restricted may be up to 1 kilometre in length with possible blasting related delays of up to 15 minutes.
Completion is expected by summer 2014.
Rain Lake Access road is now open.
