GENERAL RULES
-Be Respectful, everyone. That's the first and foremost rule of AVIAS Calling. We want everyone to have a good time and that means thinking about your actions sometimes. This doesn't mean you have to be overly cautious, but just be courteous and keep in mind that everyone has feelings.
-Try to use proper english. This means proper spelling, grammar, and complete sentences. Of course, artistic liberties can be used, as everyone has a different writing style! But keep it reasonable both inside and outside of roleplay, please. Clear communication is key!
-All information is copywritten to the respective people who have created it! That means no stealing! Please be mindful of this.
-Remember each character is owned by someone, so no powerplaying please. If a scene requires more than general physical action between characters, discuss that need with the other person or persons you are writing with so that everything is clear and understood. PMs are a great way to do this! Also it is suggested to keep a written log of these things so that they can be referenced later should a disagreement arise, although of course we at AVIAS Calling hope that that never happens!
-On the note of powerplaying and character injury, all plot related injuries (including threadfall and hatchings) will be asked for prior to plots. The administration will post a thread asking for volunteer characters, including how badly you wish for your character to be injured. No other injuries will be sustained. We want you to know you have ultimate control over what happens to your character here. Impression color aside, your character's fate is your own. We're all just along for the ride!
-Be respectful of the Administrators. We're here to make sure everyone feels safe and has a good time. We want you to be able to come to us when you have an issue and feel safe doing so. Please know you're ALWAYS welcome to PM us about things you wish to discuss. We're here to help you.
-Our rating system here is PG-13. This means that threads with up to this rating can be posted in the general forum. Anything else that broaches a topic that's more than PG-13 needs to be marked as such with what type of material is inside. Certain plots will be more than PG-13 and will be marked as such so that everyone can be safe. If a thread needs to be moved, please let an Administrator know and we will be happy to do so! Special boards will be designated for these threads. They will be hidden from the general board so that no one need look at them.
-No perfect characters. This kinda goes without saying, but still. No one is perfect, and so neither should characters be. We know everyone has different writing levels, and if you're having trouble with something, even if it isn't a perfect character, please let one of the administrators know, and we'll be happy to help you.
-Have Fun! That's the big one and most important. We want you to have a good time, so if you aren't, please let us know if we can help in some way. You all are important to us, and we want this to be a fun place for everyone to come and write. We want AVIAS Calling to be a place where people from all walks of life, and all writing levels can come and share in the joy of story telling.

Activity Rules
-These rules are very simple. We don't want activity to be a big issue for everyone, but please do understand that we need activity for the site to flourish. This being said, there will be bimonthly activity checks. There will be perks for posting.
-If you miss a bi-monthly activity check, please don't panic. Only after two missed activity checks (equal to 4 months) will you be considered inactive.
-When you become inactive, all characters that are yours (created by you more than 75%) will become "deceased". They will not be killed in a plot or any other way. They will simply be moved to the deceased file in the character information part of the board.
-All characters that were created by the administration will be moved to the adoptables. This means dragons, pets, and some stripped down APCs if the APCs are plot relevant.
-If you return from an unannounced absence and wish for your characters back, you are welcome to do so. The only stipulation is on high ranked/plot relevant characters. This is because those characters require specific activity or are needed for the plot.
-The only other thing that administration does not guarantee if there is an unannounced absence long enough to be considered inactivity is that the player who was inactive will be able to get all of their dragons that were impressed back. They they were adopted by another player, we will work with you to either reimpressed that character or create another path for that character. A reimpression purchase may or may not be required, depending on the cause of the unannounced absence. Please speak with an administrator if this eventuality comes up.
-All high ranked/plot characters need to be in at least a singular thread between activity check periods. These threads must have at least five replies. Meaning six posts total. The admin team feels this is reasonable. If for some reason you cannot manage this, please let the administration team know before the activity check period so we can help you or work something out.
-Please post all threads for high ranked characters in the bi-monthly activity checks so that the administration have easy access to all of them.
-If you post an away message, your characters are safe. We will not take any of your characters away. We do ask you at least give us an approximate return date that is reasonable for the reason of your absence. After that day, the two bi-monthly activity check rules apply.

Character Rules
-There is no character limit at AVIAS Calling. We just ask that you keep it within reason. As long as everyone is being played, you're good to create a new character. If we notice you aren't playing all of your characters, we will restrict your ability to create characters until everyone is active again.
-The number of ranking characters (High ranking riders, Mastercraftsmen, Lordholders, Etc.) is 1/3 your total number of characters. So if you had 10 characters, 3 can be high ranked.
-Exceptions to the high ranked rule are long-range plot characters, and contest won prizes.
-High Ranked characters can be taken away from you if you are absent from the board for two activity checks without reason. This means no note letting us know that you will be absent. As long as there is a note giving us an approximate date of return, your characters are totally safe. We take no joy in having to remove characters from players, and we will never put up for adoption characters that are not creations of the administration team. Any and all creations of yours are safe. We understand life gets in the way.
-Remember, while this is a technologically advanced Pern, certain things still are not allowed with character appearances, such as elongated ears, or any other appearance that isn't human. Dyed hair, piercings, tattoos are all a lot more common on this modern Pern, but the most common of them would be dyed hair. The stigma surrounding them has gone away somewhat, and with medical technology, they are much safer. Still not horribly common, as they'd be rather expensive to receive still.
-All characters must be approved before they can be played on the board.
-If an Administrator hasn't looked over your character once they are finished, please let one of us know politely. We're busy people, but we do want you to be able to play as soon as possible.
-Please put a clear and easy to understand link to all of your characters in your signature for ease of access for Administrators as well as other players.

Clutching Female Rules
-Gold Dragons clutch once per turn.
-Other dragons who can clutch will clutch between two and four times per turn, depending on their rank. This is a maximum, and not all female dragons will clutch every time they rise to mate. The only female dragons that will clutch every time are the Gold Dragons. All other female ranks will be considered sporadic in nature, although they all possess the ability to clutch.
-Any mutations you wish to purchase for your clutch can be done so through an Admin so that the mutation purchased remains secret until the hatching. The clutch owner has the right to apply that mutation to any dragon they wish, pending admin approval.
-While all biologically female dragon can clutch, each clutch must be bought from the OOC Weyr Store for each clutch had.
-This includes pet clutches as well, although their prices will be less than dragons or whers.
-The current owner of the dragon who is due to clutch and who has purchased their current clutch for that dragon is responsible for several things: clutch theme, egg descriptions, and up to five of the dragons inside the eggs, as well as posting a touching and posting the hatching of the eggs.
-All information must be presented to the Admins before it is posted anywhere. This is just to make sure everything is in order and appropriate for the site.
-Admins are responsible for who each dragon impresses to, even with clutches that they are not in direct control of. This is to make sure that favoritism isn't an issue.
-For pets, Admins will check over the impression lists that are created by the clutch creator through randomization.

Clutch Owners are Responsible For:
  • Clutch Theme
  • Egg Descriptions
  • Dragon/Pet Colors
  • Dragon/Pet Mutations
  • Dragon/Pet Descriptions
  • Impression List for Pets Clutches
  • Touching Opening and Posts (If Dragon Clutch)
  • Hatching Opening and Posts
Admins Must Approve:
  • Clutch Theme
  • Egg Descriptions
  • Colors Present
  • Dragon/Pet Descriptions
  • Which Mutation Applies to What Dragon/Pet
Admins are Responsible For:
  • Impression List for Dragons
  • Any Dragon over the Five that Clutch Owners can make
  • Any Hatching/Dragon/Character related Major Plot
Please note, there is an option available as well that means two players can split a Dragon/Rider pairing, where one player creates/plays the rider, and the other creates/plays the dragon. This can be done with created characters, but also can be done with dragons given to players during hatchings. If this is done for an impressed character who stood as a candidate for an IC played through hatching, then please note it in the profile of the rider, and the person playing the dragon must post the dragon profile on the rider's profile in a second post. This two post system should also be done for dragon/rider pairs that are created. If one character of the pair is dropped by either party, the other half of the party assumes responsibility for the dropped character. If this has been decided before a hatching, in the form of "hey, whatever my character impresses, would you like to play it?" please inform the administrators when creating a hatching. We encourage this type of division of characters, and certainly don't mind when it happens, we just want to be informed!

Candidate and Impression Rules
-Players can have up to three candidates at any one time.
-If there is a candidate call, or extra slots are bought/won, that three can be increased with no penalty to the player.
-Candidates must have at least one thread with more than ten posts in order to impress.
-The one thread/ten post rule excludes candidate call candidates.
-All candidates must post in the touching where they interact with at least one egg.
-Candidates must attend a hatching in order to impress at it.
-Candidates may or may not impress at their first hatching.
-Any candidate who ages out of impression due to admin/plot issues will not need to buy out of age impression.
-All efforts will be made to make sure all candidates receive impression before they age out.
-Candidate lessons are not mandatory but are appreciated and count toward the thread requirement for impression.
-Candidate gender will affect impression, but candidate sexuality will not.
-Some dragons have preferred sexualities that they will impress to, but no dragon rank has limitations due to sexuality.
-Dragons will impress based on gender, not sex.
-If there is any issue with the dragon impressed, please contact an admin at once with your concerns and they will be addressed.
-Admins are willing to change personality, some aspects of appearance (based on genetic possibilities for that clutch), and name.
-Admins will not change color rank of impression.
-Candidates can have sexual relationships, but genetically female candidates cannot stand if they are pregnant.
-At the start of AVIAS Calling, the age of candidates is 10-25. It has been expanded because of the need for dragonriders so quickly. All candidates in this age range have equal chances to impress.
-It will be marked when the age of candidates is lowered and raised. Please note, that the normal age of impression 11-21 for males and 13-23 for females applies to the frozen riders.
-All candidates accepted previously, or posted in their complete form for approval prior to, the change in age of accepted impressions will still be allowed to stand and impress without any need for any shop purchases.

Pet Rules
Everyone loves pets. They're fun and exciting, add a little something extra to threads, and give characters a way to relax. Maybe. Before we get to the pet species that are available to everyone, a couple notes to reiterate a few points.

- Any frozen character will have no pets at start of play. Pets were not frozen with their human companions.

- Firelizards are very rare and none are available for creation at the moment. Eggs will be found in plots and distributed by administration. Eventually some will be eligible for creation.

- Please keep pet numbers reasonable. No one is going to have more than three to four firelizards or more than three to four dogs and cats. Pets take work, and many people are busy with tasks beyond their pets. Just keep this in mind.

That's it for the overview! The only thing left is a little bit of information on how pet Giveaways will work. This information is the same no matter what type of pet. Eggs or live birth, it doesn't matter.

-The number of eggs/pets to be given away will be randomized by the person (who is not necessarily an administrator, please see Clutching Female Rules for more information) running the hatching.

-The number of small/medium/large eggs will be randomized according to what could be in those clutches. A green Firelizard would have all small eggs, for example, so there's little need to randomize there.

-What is inside each egg will be randomized depending on what can inhabit that size egg. A green Firelizard can inhabit all sizes, but a bronze firelizard can only inhabit a large egg.

-Who receives each egg/pet will be randomized by the person running the clutch. This list will be sent to the administrators to glance over, but it is doubtful any changes will be made.

-Any high ranked/unusual/special pets do count toward your total of high ranked/unusual/special characters, so please keep that in mind. If you have reached your limit and have not purchased a token from the shop for extra slots, you will not be able to receive a high ranked/unusual/special pet, but you will still be in the running for any that are not high ranked/usual/special. This will allow everyone a chance to receive something fun. This rule does not apply to pets won during contests.

Mental Illness And Trigger Warning Rules
Here at AIVAS Calling, we take the handling of mental illness and other sensitive issues very seriously. This does not mean these types of things will not make an appearance on the site, but what we hope happens is that everyone takes these things seriously in how they can have differing impacts on people. So there will be a few rules in place so that everyone can hopefully have a fun time while also allowing everyone to be expressive in their writing and not limit characters. As a warning, horrible things will happen in roleplay here. Some will be disturbing, some will be emotional. We can guarantee that this things will happen. Many will happen in graphic written detail. Because of this, we will take all precautions to make sure people are aware and can stay safe. A list of common triggers will be at the end of this post, and we will absolutely take suggestions on updating it so that everyone can stay safe.

-Please tag your threads in the “Topic Description” line when posting a new thread with any common triggers that you know will appear within that thread. This way people will know what to expect. Please keep your threads updated with new triggers that appear as the thread progresses.
-Any and all characters with mental illness will be looked over very carefully during the application phase. Please do your research on any mental illness you with to portray. We will absolutely accept candidates with issues, mental or otherwise, but do note we cannot promise impression for these individuals. This doesn’t mean they won’t impress, but we cannot promise they will.
-Psychiatry and psychological help in current AIVAS Calling Pern is available and very similar to that on Earth. Thus it is not perfected, but it is not medieval in practice. There is medication and help for those who need it and seek it. There is less stigma for these individuals on Pern than there is on Earth.
-There is a big difference between playing a character with mental illness well and playing a character with mental illness in a detrimental way to those who suffer from that illness. This is where that previously mentioned research comes into play. Any character that suffers severely from any mental illness will be monitored by the Administration just to make sure that everything is done in a way that’s respectful. We understand things will happen that are not nice to read, but we do ask that everything is done in a respectful way.
-If an issue should arise where a player feels someone else's character with a mental illness or other issues is not played respectfully, please bring this to an Administrator's attention. Generally however, that the person who is playing the character with mental illness has every right to play a character with mental illness as long as they have done their research and are doing so respectfully. If the person who has the issue feels something is not respectful, then they can come to the Administration with that issue and we will work with all parties to help solve the problem. But the Administration won't stop someone from playing a character with a mental illness or other issue just because someone doesn't want them to play that type of character.

List of Common Triggers: Blood, Gore, Sexual Contact, Abuse, Self Harm, Medical Issues, Death, Suicide, and Depression.*

*Will be added to as suggestions come in. Please check back when updating threads.

Flight Rules
-Flights at AC are pretty straight forward! If a flight is pre-determined due to character plot, please post that in OOC in the very first post of the thread so that everyone is aware.
-Flightlust is a thing on AC, however, how much it will make your character react is totally up to you! Flightlust is not tied in any way to the closeness of the bond between dragon and rider, but more toward the feelings of the rider toward physical relationships. This means that some riders might only feel a slight arousal, but can continue working with no problem, while other riders will be pulled full force into their dragon's mind. That is completely up to the discretion of the player!
-Substitutions are allowed. This means if a rider has a Weyrmate and wishes for that Weyrmate, no matter what, to be their bed partner that night, then that's totally allowed, and no other rider will interfere, even if their dragon wins the flight.
-Isolations are allowed, which means if a rider doesn't want to join in the flight with the other rider, be they the rider of the female or of one of the males, they can isolate themselves and refuse to join in.
-All Gold Flights MUST be randomized, and the Sr/Jr Weyrleader will be changing.
