Ariaceli tried to stay in shape. Of course, wingdrills helped with that, and she certainly wouldn't call herself out of shape, but she did find herself sitting an awful lot of the time, and she couldn't stand it. She found herself with fog in her brain a lot of the time, and exercise helped. It made her feel awake and cut down her need for klah, although the amount the Weyrwoman consumed of the slightly sweetened drink would never decrease unless under a Healer's orders, as well as brought some of the sharpness she had back into focus. She'd been jogging around the outside of the training room, Mallitorioth lounging happily in the middle and taking up as much space as she possibly could. The gold didn't feel the need to join her rider in exercise at that particular moment, especially since they'd gone for quite a long flight earlier, far longer and farther than they possibly should have. There hadn't been any danger of them being gone, of course, but Ariaceli had felt that it wasn't enough exercise and so the Weyrwoman and Weyrqueen were ignoring their duties in favor of jogging and sprawling, respectively. There were a few other people, but most of them had finished up their training and left shortly after Ariaceli and Mallitorioth had appeared. It didn't help that anytime someone got near Mallitorioth, the gold started rumbling. It wasn't necessarily an unpleasant sound, but most people felt it was best to tread carefully around Mal, and Ariaceli didn't blame them, even if their reactions made her chuckle. She was halfway through her second to last lap when a gaggle of men appeared. At first, Ariaceli didn't pay them any notice, but they stayed close to the entrance and seemed to be unwilling to enter any farther because of Mallitoroth's bulk. True, the training area was far larger than even the gold dragon could occupy, spreading herself out as much as possible as she had, but their behavior marked them clearly as outsiders. Slowing down as she approached them, Ariaceli cast a quick glance over them, curious as to why they were here, and what they needed. Looking over her shoulder, she realized it was just Mal and herself now.

"Excuse me. Can I help you gentlemen with anything?" Ariaceli gave the gaggle a bright smile and her eye was caught by the decently sized crate that the men seemed to be escorting. With a huff, Mallitorioth pulled her extremities in and slowly lifted herself to her feet, stretching deeply before moving toward her rider and the men. The sudden approach of the dragon seemed to spook the men, and Ariaceli held up a hand to stop both them and her dragon. "I'm sorry. She'll stay back. Now, what can I help you fine people with? Can I point you in the right direction?" The men cast another worried glance at Mallitorioth, who had tilted her head slightly at them in return, but one among them seemed brave enough to speak up. "You... wouldn't happen to be Ariaceli, would you, ma'am? We've been told to bring this to you. You being the Weyrwoman and all." The man took a gulp, but Ariaceli's expression was pleasant enough, even if her face was red from running and she was sweating rather greatly from exertion. Not even the Weyrwoman could look perfect all the time. "They're clinklizard eggs, you see, ma'am. But I think we got separated from the other group. There were glidelizards too, and one of the other riders seems to have, and I mean this respectfully, so please don't let the dragon eat me, absconded with the firelizard eggs." All of this was news to Ariaceli, and she turned over her shoulder. "Mal? Have you heard anything?" No, I would have told you if I ha- Mallitorioth trailed off, and Ariaceli waited patiently. Her dragon was not one to lose her train of thought. Ah. Ael'thyristin of Xhaillocth has the firelizard eggs in the kitchen, and somehow the glidelizard eggs are by the rider rooms. Xhaillocth and Bashemath have just let everyone know. Should I add that we have the Clinklizard eggs? It seems that the other two would be close to hatching, and I doubt that these have long before then either. If I was allowed to approach, I could tell for certain. The gold sniffed impatiently and Ariaceli rolled her eyes. A common interaction between the pair. "Thank you. Do you know if they're hatching?" The men nodded almost in unison. "Mal? Yeah, go send that notice out to everyone would you? Oh and... Clinklizard did you say? Mal, Wherry meat too. Fresh, if at all possible. Or as fresh as they can to get here quickly."

There weren't many eggs, but they were larger than what Ariaceli might have expected. Pushing a few errand strands of hair out of her eyes, Ariaceli moved closer as the men shuffled back out of her way. It seemed she was as much a stranger to them as her dragon was, in a way. She ignored their scamper backwards and gently touched one of the egg shells, withdrawing her hand quickly when she felt the egg nearly shiver. "And make them hurry, Mal. I just felt this egg move." Wherry Meat is needed urgently in the training area, and anyone who isn't currently preoccupied with Firelizards or Glidelizards, the Clinklizard eggs are also hatching at the aforementioned training area! Hurry now. Look sharp, or they will all get away. Ariaceli nodded in appreciation of the message. Turning back to the men, she gestured down at the eggs. "Would you like to stay and try for one?" Quickly, the men shook their heads, although less in unison this time. "They're for you, ma'am, and the other riders of AIVAS. We wouldn't dare. It might anger AIVAS." Ariaceli nodded slowly. "Very... well then. I do appreciate the surprise gift." The men were already backing out of the door, although that might have had something to do with Mallitorioth giving up on being told to stay back and coming more toward her rider, covering the large distance easily. "You're scaring them." Yes, but that is their problem. I want to see these Clinklizards when they hatch. I will stay back some. I can see plenty fine from here. As long as the other humans' heads aren't in the way, I will have a delightful view. And Wherry sounds good. "Don't you dare." Ariaceli took several steps back away from the eggs. Life was still so astounding sometime. She'd wanted a firelizard in the worst way when she was a child, although her father never thought to bring her one, which had probably been an incredibly smart idea on his part. The terror that a young Ariaceli, already a child who needed far more structure than she'd had, could have wrought with a firelizard was unprecedented. It was a good thing she'd matured greatly in the many intervening turns, because from what little she knew, Clinklizards were even worse.
The Rainforest's Growth Clutch
1. Amazon Water Lily Egg -
Weirdly flat looking, this egg is still beautiful. Deep green like an emerald jewel at its depths lightens to a sun-touched golden green from bottom to top with crimson red veins running throughout as if carrying blood though the shell has none of its own. Perched on top and off at an angle like a jaunty hat worn by a proper sassy debutante is a pale pink flower marking, each 'petal' lovingly outlined in barely shades darker lilac. A subtle sheen glistens over the entirety of the egg, making it glimmer regardless of light levels.

2. Bromeliad Egg -
Yellow outlined green 'leaves' spike sharply out from the base of this egg, forming a ring to about halfway up the egg's total height. This green is slightly lighter in color, more yellow than true green, but far from golden in shade, with paler insides to each of the 'leaves' and darker shadows underneath, giving them depth. Thrusting up in the center are overlapping, similarly shaped leaves but this time in the most vivid reds and oranges, drawing dramatic attention away from the comparatively duller base. The depth and brightness of these reds and yellows seem to shift to catch the eye and one cannot simply draw or look away easily.

3. Corpse Flower Egg -
Though there is something vaguely off-putting and unsettling about this egg, it doesn't have anything to do with its appearance, which is actually quite nice looking. Pale, pale yellow green bordering on white in some places, as if bleached by the sun, darkens dramatically into a ruby toned mix of purple and red at the top, with some darker tendrils running down and shading into the paler tone at its base, making the shift between the two colors less harsh. A paler shade of the ruby color seems to extend a thick tendril or tentacle up from the very center to the top of the egg as if reaching up to the sky, inviting a touch from those who pass by.

4. Pitcher Plant Egg -
Like many of its siblings this egg has a green color scheme to its base, a bright spring green that appears almost cheerful all on its own, like light seen through a leaf, emblazoning the color and making it appear to shine from within. But laced through the egg, starting from about a third the way up the egg from the base, there begins to grow vivid red tendrils that resemble spider webs or roots, or even veins, carrying 'blood' up to the top, where the tendrils grow fatter, thicker, and closer together, choking out the more natural green base at the bottom of the egg. More than oddly there is a darker, faded out red at the very top, creating what looks almost like a depression at the top of the egg, as if there was a hole or crack at the top, falling down to devour what is inside.

5. Poinciana Egg -
Standing out not only for having less green at its base than the other eggs, this egg is also helped by the fact that it is a bright, almost ear searing, mix of pinkish red, sunflower yellow, and white. Broad, three lobed 'petals' of the red at the center lighten to white in the middle before having a ring of bright red again on the very outer edges, while the center 'throat' is the lovely yellow color. Red speckles show up in both the yellow and white as well, like red paint has been splattered liberally across the entire surface as if splashed there by a child.

6. Torch Ginger Egg -
The only egg completely lacking in any green whatsoever, the total surface of this egg is made up of softest blushing pinks with hints of yellow and white. Pink petals outlined in yellow on the larger, bottom levels grow progressively smaller and turn to having white outlines the closer to the top they grow, with each level of petals overlapping the layer above it slightly, like a scalloped ballgown in reverse. At the very top, unseen unless viewed from directly above the egg, there is a white heart at the center of all the petals, which resembles something like a seed, or maybe another blossom just about to form.

Koshisigre, Master Beastcrafter

While Koshisigre tended to live and work on Wherry Island, there were still things that needed his attention on Star Island. This had been one of those days. With the hatching coming up quickly, they would need extra beasts to be slaughtered, and they all needed to be healthy. He was taking no chances for the hatchlings future health.

He had been about to head back, actually, when a passing rider said something about clinklizards in the training area. He had to ask directions, but once he had them, he had no problems finding his way there. There was no way that he'd miss seeing them hatch, it was one of the few things he hadn't observed about the interesting creatures, and he was a little curious how they ended up with them.

He entered the training room, noting the large gold dragon and her much smaller rider. "Ah, Goldrider Ariaceli," he said in a sort of greeting. "I wasn't aware that the dragonriders were interested in the clinklizards."

There weren't many people yet at the clinklizard hatching, although that was understandable given the training grounds were out of the way, and it would take people quite a bit of time to get there. The eggs didn't know that though, and four of them were showing signs of life. Two of them took the lead. The Corpse Flower Egg and The Pitcher Plant Egg. Both cracked around the same time, the shinny scales of the little creatures inside showing through, slick with egg membrane. The Pitcher Plant Egg was the first to fully crack open, and a darling little Brass looked up at the few humans around it and tilted its head to the side, clearly confused about its surroundings, but not showing any signs of fear. Then The Corpse Flower Egg followed suit, and a Bismuth hatchling also wiggled out of the hole it had created in its egg. Looking between the two people present, it stood up and shook itself off, its scales jangling together heavily with a strange chiming noise as it moved cautiously toward Koshisigre, head tilting back and forth, clicking its already quite long teeth together, clearly curious and asking for something from the Master Beastcrafter. He wanted food, and Koshisigre smelled like meat. Delicious meat to sate the rumbly belly of the baby clinklizard. The little clinkling.

Allana was not expecting for her day to be so rudely interrupted as three dragons in quick succession all called for people to go NOW. Being a sensible woman, Allana decided to listen to the Gold. After all, though she knew there were multiple animals hatching at the moment, she really didnt know much about any of them besides firelizards, and she knew Aidan was probably there and hoarding them all for himself. So maybe a... clinklizard? Might be nice for her. And if she didnt get one, it was just another excuse to speak to the Weyrwoman again.

So she took her time to get there, not rushing or speeding through the halls, and even then she nearly collided with multiple people pelting full speed towards the riders quarters or the mess hall.

When she arrived she could see that the hatching was underway so she picked up the pace and jogged the last few yards. She watched the rainbow.. thing pop out of its shell. It was actually quite an attractice color, even though she wasnt sure about the creature. But at the moment that was not as important. She nodded to Ariacelli and a slightly deeper nod to Mallitorioth and then joined the other bystanders by near the eggs, grabbing hold of some meat to offer one of the tiny carnivores.

Koshigre was not surprised at the lack of people in the training area, not with firelizards and glidelizards up for grabs at the same time. They would fit most riders lifestyles better, being able to fly with their dragons. He wasn't sure how well these guys would hold up to that.

Two of the eggs cracked about the same time, a small brass, and a pale rainbowy Bismuth. They were both precious babies, and the Master Beastcrafter couldn't hold back an aww. They were just too precious, and he really did have a soft spot towards baby animals.

He watched the small ones, kneeling down as he noticed the Bismuth moving towards him. It seemed to be chiming as it moved, the scales jangling together. It was possible the best thing he had ever seen.

"Hey little buddy," he crooned, holding out a chunk of meat from a bowl that someone had handed him. "I bet you're super hungry, aren't you."

The clinklizard moved up closer, cautiously, and then snapped his head forward to grab the meat. Koshigre only smiled, moving into a more comfortable position before offering another piece. "Don't worry, there's more than enough meat here for you."

Still the clinklizards hatched. The Torch Ginger Egg was hatching, and before anyone could do anything else, it spilled a very small Clinklizard with dull coloration onto the pile of sawdust that was their resting place. The little Osmium still had a bit of shell on its head, but if anyone tried to get near it, it would snap at them, apparently content to wear it's shell-hat for the moment as it inspected the world from under its shadow. There was another egg hatching as well, The Poinciana Egg, and it too took very little time to hatch. This egg contained a larger Clinkling, although not by much, even if his color was quite spectacular and his scales were hard to look at. He could have benefited from the shade his sister had, because almost at once he ran headlong into another egg. Although it didn't appear as though he was too horribly hurt, he flopped down at once and started making the most awful noises, clinking his scales together in an altogether pitiful way while his little clawed hands made desperate clawing motions at Allana, begging for her to come over and feed him something before he expired from the minimal effort he had thus put forth.

He also has dark brown dots that appear, like freckles, right up next to his scales along either side of his neck, over his shoulders, and down his back, although they do not appear on his tail at all.

The first odd Clinklizard went to the stranger, but Allana had prepared herself for when the next one hatched. They started hatching one by one, the second one however was snapping at anyone around. The third, who was a lovely brown with bright yellow metallic sheen to his scales. It was a lovely color combination and Allana thought it was quite good looking.

Of course her fascination was somewhat dimmed when the ridiculous creature dramatically flailed about. But it looked towards her imploringly. With a sigh she came forward with food and fed him. He sighed and stretched luxuriously, as loudly and dramatically as possible. It was a comical sight, and Allana chuckled a little. Normally Allana was very no nonsense, but this silly thing was something of a comic relief. She reached over and picked him back up onto his feet. "I think Faolan will suit you well. You're a manipulative little wolf." The Clinkling crooned and chattered at her nudging her hadn for more food. She fed him some more, then picked him.

"Come on, let's get out of the way of you siblings." She could feel his scales and claws poking her, though they were still smooth from having just hatched. She would have to find a way to have him not accidentally scratch her or anything. Though at ;east he was small.

She hung back away from the still hatching eggs, watching so see what came next.

No matter how long he'd been here, Al still wasn't quite used to hearing dragons in his head. Sure, it rarely happened that a dragon had cause to speak to him(yet, he hoped), but it almost always brought him up short. In this case, multiple dragons calling out at once caught him completely by surprise. Stepping to the side, he took a moment to figure out which clutch he was closest to. Realizing the training room was closest, he headed quickly in that direction, hoping that he wasn't too late.

By the time he entered the room, it looked like at least two had already chosen, and some eggs were still in the process of hatching. Seeing a candidate he'd remembered seeing during lessons, he waved hello, and offered a quick congratulations, on his way to finding a spot in the cluster of people surrounding the eggs. Her clinklizard looked like it was going to be quite the handful. The smith grabbed a bit of meat, and waited to see if he could entice any of the hatchlings his way.

Koshigre, Master Beastcrafter

Interacting with Allana

With the little lizard fed and calm, Koshigre was able to look around to see that a little brass had impressed to one of the candidates. Great. Just what they needed with the dragon hatching right around the corner. If they impressed, then the clinklizard would likely end up second to the dragon, which, admittedly, was how it was supposed to be. He'd just have to make sure that the little one didn't end up causing trouble while the kid adjusted to living with both.

As he would for the other candidate who had just joined them should they impress. It wouldn't hurt the clinklizards to spend time with others, they were pack creatures, and perhaps they could be trained to take down prey for the young dragons.

He stood up, his joints creaking, the Bismuth jumping up after him. Maybe canine training would work with them? He'd have to try several things. "Come on," he said, encouraging the lizard to follow him as he walked over to where Allana had moved to.

"Your fellow's very striking," he said, as an introduction. "Would you mind keeping track of his size as he grows? I'll make sure you have all the supplies you need." He hadn't been so excited in years.

If these could be trained, then there was all kinds of uses for them. They could have them in the fields, to guard the herds, and to go with hunters when they went out alone. Dogs were great, and wouldn't be replaced by the clinklizards. They'd' just have complimentary rolls.

When Cael had heard the call for wherry meat coming from an unknown voice in his head he had reacted immediately and run back to his rooms in the candidate hall, knowing he had some dried wherry meat there from a recent hunting trip. It wasn't much, but if he could possibly get a pet then he was more than happy to give it up. He had also hoped to catch his sister somewhere along the way, but since he didn't spot her he just left a note and a little of the meat he still had before hustling even more and running to the kitchens. There he grabbed a small bowl and a skin of warmed water, which he instantly tossed the wherry jerky in before thrusting it down his shirt to keep it warm and taking off at a jog towards the training room.

Bursting in and nearly stumbling in his haste, Cael barely stopped himself in time from running into one of the other individuals already in the room, rising up on to his tip toes to halt his forward momentum, eyes going stark wide at the sight of a few clinklizards already hatched. These creatures were entirely new to him outside of this Island, and he'd only spotted a few from a great distance so far, so their newness and his own interest in regards to his craft instantly kicked in and he wanted, at first, just to study the little creatures. But he was hopefully here for more than to just look at one of the animals, so he whirled on his heels to face the Queenrider with a huge grin on his face, all the while reaching down his shirt to take out the warmed water and jerky mix. The water had softened the meat by now, bringing it closer to the tender meat of a freshly butchered wherry, and the water's heat as well as his own body's heat had kept it from growing cold. "Am I too late? I brought some meat!"

The osmium was still content to sit with her hat, and so it was down to the other eggs to create a show for the only now gathering crowd. It was actually rather alright that there were less people at this hatching, as there were less eggs, and so everyone who had showed up would potentially be happy, rather than potentially disappointed. The Amazon Water Lily Egg was starting to hatch, and before any other egg could finish its hatching process, The Amazon Water Lily Egg cracked open rather violently, both ends of the egg being thrown away with some force as a relatively large carbon uncurled from inside the egg. Almost at once, she turned to her sister and chittered at her. The osmium seemed rather peeved by this and stood up, still balancing the egg on her head, but the carbon chittered at her again, and this second exchange seemed to calm the osmium down somewhat. With that, the carbon moved off. Her eyes were almost immediately fixed on the food in Caelixstyn's hand. Behind her, the osmium had started to move, and because of her little shell hat, accidentally tripped over another egg, The Pitcher Plant Egg, which shattered under her weight. The osmium, who did not appear to be the most brilliant of creatures, made an undignified squaking noise as she got tangled up with the brass that had inhabited the egg and the carbon stopped in her progression to turn and look. It seemed like she shook her head, scales clinking slightly, before taking the last few steps toward Caelixstyn. The brass managed to untangle himself from his sister, and hurriedly scurried to one of the people waiting with meat, clearly rather confused about life already.

Her scales along her back aren't overly long, and are a slightly lighter shade of grey that is more neutral than her body. There is no blue tinge to them. All along her body, speckled in different sizes are bright white dots that have no sharp edges to them. They are pure white dots and spread all the way along her muzzle and along her back and over her arms. They also appear down her legs and part way down her tail.

Cael had barely made it into the room in time before he spied out the eggs hatching in front of him. It looked like a good portion had already broken shell and approached the humans gathered around, and he could see at least two gathered up into the arms of their new bondmates, being fed what had been brought to their hatching. One was pale rainbow colored and had gone to someone he recognized as one of the Masters of the Island, a Master Beastcrafter at that. If anyone was going to know about these creatures it would be him for sure. Caelixstyn even bowed his head a little to Koshisigre but didn't walk up to him, in case the man didn't want to be distracted from his new, young little clinklizard. The second was a nearly goldenish colored Clinklizard, bigger than the first though not too much so, and that one had gone to a young woman he recognized as a fellow candidate.

Another male was also in the room, but Cael's attention had gone back to the eggs by that time, where a tiny clinklizard was just sitting, with a hat made of egg. The little creature was pretty cute if Cael did say so himself. But before anything else could happen, one of the larger eggs hatched pretty suddenly, revealing a much darker, larger Clinklizard. which chittered at her smaller sister, making the other hatchling stand up, balancing the little shell on her head, but the pair settled down and the Carbon eventually moved away, and much to his astonishment, seemed completely focused in on the food in his hand. If he was being truly honest, Cael had not expected to actually interest any of the hatchlings, he had more shown up just in case someone else hadn't made it there in time with food to feed their new bond pet. She got distracted for a second by something happening among the eggs before taking the last few steps in his direction and burying her head in the skin he held, eagerly slurping down the tenderized meat and liquid mixture within.

With a little bit of a wonder in his eyes and a slight tremble in his hand, Cael reached out and touched the clinklizard, carefully not depressing the scales on her too much, which he figured might hurt, with them so soft and her so freshly hatched. He stroked the white spots down her side and smiled, laughing when she snorted suddenly and looked up at him with a bit of a haughty eye when he moved the bag slightly out from under her nose, interrupting her feeding. "Sorry, sorry. I won't move again, promise" Cael told her, allowing the Carbon to settle and continue her feeding in peace. "I'll have to think of a fitting name for you, won't I. Not just any name is going to do, I feel it. It is going to have to be special." He whispered aloud to her, happily humming to his new friend and already making plans to introduce her to his sister and Nyeja.

Al watched as the clinklizards continued to hatch, chuckling as the little creature who was wearing their egg shell as a hat, continued to wander about. Still managing to look moderately unbothered as it fell into another egg, and getting tangled up with the hatchling that emerged. two of the hatchlings made their choices quickly, but the other seemed content to sit for a bit. He hoped that everything was ok, and that she was merely taking her time.

With four of the six eggs already hatched, and three of them bonded, Al wasn't quite sure that his chances of bonding was high. Still, he was glad to have come when called. He hadn't had the chance to see these lizards up close, and he definitely appreciated the opportunity.

It was down to the last two, the little Osmium who had wandered off after the hatching of her sibling, and one unhatched egg. The Bromeliad Egg remained untouched, except that now... there was a little bit of movement, a little bit of action here and there. Different parts of the shell seemed to be pushed outwards at different points. First this little section, then that little section. While all of this was happening, the Osmium hatchling had determinedly jumped off of the edge of the crate and was making for the doorway, her tiny feet slapping with an oddly comical sound against the floor before someone raced after her and scooped her up, heedless of the fit she started to throw. The fit subsided somewhat as food was shoved down her throat, but it seemed someone had just gotten themselves a world of trouble. The Bromeliad Egg seemed to have less trouble. With a few more well-placed pushes, the egg cracked open spectacularly, and a Copper spilled out of it. He quickly picked himself up, head turning this way and that. For a moment he watched his sister be scooped up into someone's now scratched but loving arms, before he turned his attention to his own first meal. It was clear to him who he had to pick, and he hurried over to Aletan, mouth opening as soon as he came into range, although he didn't make a sound. He just stood there expectantly, tail swishing back and forth, scales already starting to rattle as he waited for his food to be presented to him.

.../Pet Markings///: This little girl is small, but also adorable. Her coloration isn't anything spectacular, but that's very common for an Osmium. It's a pale grey with just a hint of blue that presides over the lower half of her body. Over the top half of her, a darker teal-grey shows up. This color fades into the lighter color on her belly and bottom half. The darker color comes down her legs, covers all of her scales, and shows a bit on her shoulders. It also appears in little dots all along her feet and arms, clustering together quite tightly in places.

.../Pet Markings///: A gorgeous bright orange color, this boy stands out easily among his peers. His color is deep and impressive, and certainly what someone would think of when they think of this rank. There is a deep shimmer to his hide as well, and it gleams quite well in the sun when the light hits him. His scales along his back are ever so slightly darker than the rest of his hide, and look more like the color people associate explicitly with autumn. He has small freckles, that are even darker than the scales on the back of his hide, along the sides of his face, around his cheeks, as well as on his hips. The freckles are very tiny and spaced rather far apart.
