Non-Thunderbirds Gerry Anderson models

I posted my models of Thunderbirds in the Thunderbirds thread, but there are a host of other models from other Gerry Anderson productions that I've built over the last few years that may be of interest...

Firstly, an old old favourite... Stand by for Action!!!



This is a kit from a Japanese manufacturer called Doyusha. It doesn't ahve any cockpit detail so that was scratch built and I did put LEDs in the ratemaster and in the cabin, but sadly they no longer work.



Very recently I got the resin Terror Fish from Warp so Stingray now has an opponent!



Next in chronological order comes Captain Scarlet. I've got a lot of kits in the stash but the only ones I've built up are first the Imai Spectrum Passenger transport - a really awful kit with spring loaded missiles, panel trenches and terrible undercarriage.



Next is the Spectrum Saloon car - this again in an Imai kit, but isn't too bad, so long as you ignore the spring loaded missiles firing from the headlights!



Finally, we have my favourite TV Series, UFO! First model is a very rare Bandai UFO Interceptor. The kit is a good representation, but the missile needed sharpening up and the cockpit was very basic and toy-like so was replaced with a scratch build. It also has some very weird "spansglish"-like placard decals which were discarded in place of custom printed ones. Sadly these went very badly wrong during the varnishing phase and turned into large pink splodges! Thankfully this was repaired and the end result is very satisfying...



Finally my favourite model (up until the most recent 21" Thunderbird build from earlier this year), a build of the Imai Sky 1 kit. This is an awful kit, inaccurate shape, spring loaded missiles and other toy-like features.
I decided it had to be corrected and built in its most iconic pose...



I'm pleased to say that this model won the inaugural Gerry Anderson Memorial Trophy at Telford in 2013 so is my most "successful" model to date :)

In the stash I have other Gerry Anderson kits, including a Joe 90 car, Cloudbase, SPV, Spectrum Helijet, Space:1999 Eagles (including a Warp resin/metal 12", A Replicas Unlimited resin 22" and 2 of the recent MPC Eagle re-releases) and a resin Hawk...

You can tell I'm a bit of a fan... ;)

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Very, very cool stuff. It's interesting to me that Britain and Japan have so much in common. Island nations. Fierce warriors. Mighty navies (at one time). Outrageous models of futuristic vehicles in TV and movies. Of course, in Japan a guy in a rubber suit smashes the models while in the U.K. the models are stars of the show--not sure what that means...

Love them all. I am working on a Stingray too - trying to improve on the smaller Doyusha mould that was reissued by Lee about a decade ago. I'm stalled at the moment but it's almost ready for paint. I haven't seen your Spectrum Passenger jet before - nice.

very nice collection here and very well built. I have no favourite here but I wasn't that keen on UFO.
Stingray and Cpt Tempest will soon have that mechanical (terror) fish destroyed.

I've been looking for some Captain Scarlet models but they all seem very overpriced or not well moulded.

You know, when I was a kid I loved: Thunderbirds and Ultra Seven, Johnny Quest and Speed Racer. Today we have Nobrains, Breakitall and the Mutant Cockrachs from Somewhere... Yeeeech:!:
I remember "Stingray" when I was a little kid (6 or 7; they call it "Meteoro Submarino" -submarine meteor in my country) and UFO when I was a teen -specially Lt. Ellis, I don't know why...-
Gerry Anderson did excellent plastic models, like Irwin Allen. The "Seaview" was my impossible love: I never could find a model of that submarine. Neither Sky One or the Thunderbirds, but I made paper models of the last ones, when I was 11 years old. I don't even have a picture of them... O tempora! :cry:
