Hey Feanor,

Mine will be in 1/72 and it being 617 Sqn didn't go un-noticed, I'd like to see the one you build in 1/48 when it's done.

I have a Monogram 1/72 Tornado I made years ago which just happens to have all those extras on it (I think it was realeased just after the GW1) and as I made a complete hash of it I'll cannibalize it for my project.  Actually the kit is okay, it's the paint job I gave it that looks aweful.  On top of that I've already got some 617 markings for it from the Xtradecal sheet I got a while back

lovely. do not like the camo. i theink even after the change to low level tsr2 never would have been suited to that role.
I may not agree with what you say, but i will fight to the death for your right to say it.

TSR-2 was designed for low level!!

The camo is growing on me. I feel like it's time to attempt another one of these. In the meantime here's my earlier build from the 08 What If GB, which I don't think I have posted in the gallery yet. The 'what if' was the use of XR222 as a Skybolt trials machine.

First Post and it is on art not modelling - I feel suitably embarassed

The Painting is called 'Return to the Future' and is by the well-known aviation artist Ronald Wong. Prints should be easily available round the web.

The picture above is slightly cropped from the original which looks even more like Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle to me also - but I bow to those with more geographical knowledge!

By the way - great TSR-2 models - pleasure just to drool over them - I may even be tempted to drag my one down from the loft and give it a go - just couldn't face all that white paint before!

Lovely finish! :thumb: White can be so hard to finish properly. Nice job on the tinted canopy too.

That Swordfish doesn't stand a chance but I think the Flanker might have him ;)
'Cause he loves the models and he hugs the models
Goes to lunch with models 'cause he's trying everyday
And when he sleeps with models then he dreams of models
Wants to be a model 'cause it's all he's got to say

On the 27th September 1964 the TSR.2 took to the skies over England. Designed as a long range, all weather, twin engined supersonic bomber capable of precision bombing at both high and low altitude, the aircraft was fitted with advanced avionics that could deliver a variety of weapons. As it underwent extensive testing it soon became clear that the design exceeded its original expectations; the aircraft was 40 years ahead of its time. The following year, with the full backing of the Labour administration, English Electric went into full production. The American Defense Department, suitably impressed by demonstrations in the Nevada desert, cancel their order for the F-111 and procure 372 TSR.2’s in various combat role configurations. This single order consolidated Britain’s position as leading aircraft designers and combat aircraft manufacturers.
