Free worth it?

Are free hosts even worth it? I don't think so, they are just very insecure about whether they will stay afloat or not, and it can end up being you're forum disappear. I think it is always better to go for the paid ones, as they are more reliable and safer.

I've been using Zetaboards for years and they've always been very reliable. I've never had any issues or down time. They update the software regularly and have a very helpful support forum with plenty of add-ons and mods.

you must be lucky Nathanial, often many of ZB's servers will go down. Not all but many seem to do.

Free can be good but is often very restricted.

I think free is ok at the beginning, just to get a few users to get your forum/site going, after you should consider paid hosting as you never know when the free hosting will go down. You are risking your hard work and nowadays everyone is competing in the web hosting industry, you will find a great deal if you search around.

Hi sarhad12,

Our website is 2 years old and this forum is over a year old, we have a company
that monitors it and we've never been down in all that time. Our pages load fast
and people come and stay up to an hour and a half. We've never paid a penny for
hosting, only for our domains. We wouldn't even consider paying unless we just
suddenly had serious problems. I don't foresee that happening though.

free hosting is useful if you have to test some thing in the real server.. otherwise its a nightmare..
I initially tried free hosting.. I had a horible experience.. one day they suddenly said like the server used for my website crashed and the data is not recoverable at the moment... For free hosting they usually dont take proper backup i guess...

The aim of free hosting is to attract people to their paid hosting.. its always better to stick with a paid hosting plan...

We've been with Weebly from the beginning and in nearly 3 years Affilipede
has only gone off line 3 times for less than a total of 5 minutes

Affiliforums is hosted by zetaboards and we've had the same results with them
The end result is a substantial savings in operating costs

A website will go out of business if it costs more to
operate it than it makes and that makes free
hosting well worth the risk *~

I have been using Affilipede and their Affiliforums for almost
2 years now.

I can only remember one time when Affilipede went down and
I do not recall any time that Affiliforums has gone down.

I know that the one time that I am aware of when Affilipede went
down, it was only down for a few minutes.

All I can say is that I think Wayne and Nathanial are geniuses for
having chosen their free hosting sites so well.

I know of many who are either no longer in business or their
websites are no longer operational.

I also know that most of them are no longer operational primarily
because they were not earning enough money to make what they
were paying worth their time and trouble anymore.

If you want to pay, and you can afford to, then that is your choice.
