dear all
....thought you'd like an update....... our boy is now 17.... ......... and looking forward to taking in this year's prom along side his sweet french canadian girlfriend ......... such are the young ......

he as well has had to grow up faster than usual since his accident ..... and has made me wonder at his inner strength .....
....there hasn't been any improvement in his arm ..... the lateral abduction was in fact coming from his shoulder ....
....he has had the EMG and nerve conduction studies completed....... now we are waiting for the miraculous 3-6 month period to happen ... in which we hope to see some regeneration and movement in his shoulder and bicep (they say that's where the first movements happen) .....

.......and in that time he will be seeing a neurosurgeon to consider nerve transplants .... because, they want to see injuries early.....

......he has been having some neuropathy to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd fingers..... first just the one finger at first and now the 3 .... the pain makes him wince and he doesn't take anything for it....

questions for you all:
....... will the pain worsen and could it involve his whole arm....
.....mike.....from london, on........ have you heard of a neurosurgeon....out of the university of toronto.....
"anastakis" ..... or have you heard of someone else ...that we might consider....
i can't wait to write to you all and tell you that he's great and fully recovered...... we know we have a long road ahead ........ he's an awesome fella....

Hi Pursilla, sorry don't know of any of the surgeons from Toronto directly. That name rings a bell tho ? I know the team in London quite well but there is really no point picking and choosing, the care you get weather it is in London, Hamilton or Toronto will be the same quality. I was in touch with a mum from Hamilton last year who wanted a second opinion so she brought her son to London to see my surgeons. Diagnosis and treatment were the same, she just wanted to be sure. I think she still brings her lad to St Joe's in London for the bpi pain clinic. They have a dedicated Hand and Upper Limb Centre on sight. I'm sure they have something similar in Toronto ?? Believe me these groups of surgeons network throughout Ontario so you can be pretty sure they are on the same page regarding diagnosis and treatment.
If you want I can email particulars for St Josephs Hospital, Hand and Upper Limb Centre ? You'd need to get a referral ?
I'd just sit tight for the time being, no point jumping the gun right now.
I graded my recovery by the neuro pain. It spiked alot just after surgery. I'd say the 8 months post op were the wost but it was a good sign tho, as I could tell things were regenerating.
Best wishes.
Mikey
