HI, I'M A 58 YEAR OLD RN, I HAD SURGERY TO RELIEVE A PAIN IN MY SHOULDER AND WOKE UP IN HELLACIOUS PAIN WITHOUT THE USE OF MY HAND. I TOLD THE DOC HOW BAD IT HURT, ASKED FOR SOMETHING FOR NEUROLOGICAL PAIN, HE SAID HE DIDN'T TREAT THAT KIND OF PAIN SO I HAD TO GO TWO WEEKS ON LORTAB 10MG EVERY 4 TILL I COULD SEE THE PAIN SPECIALIST...BY THE WAY HE WOULD NEVER TALK TO ME, JUST SENT WORD VIA HIS ASSISTANT. THIS WAS BACK IN 2/03. I'VE BEEN TO MAYO CLINIC, THEY TELL ME NO HOPE FOR NERVES, BUT WANT TO TRY TENDON TRANSFERS TO GIVE ME PARTIAL USE OF MY RIGHT, USED TO BE DOMINANT, HAND. ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH TENDON TRANSFERS? MY PAIN HAS GOTTEN DOWN TO 3-4 SO I FEEL LUCKY, MY ARM IS STRONG, BUT I USE MY HAND LIKE A CLUB, NO FUNCTION AT ALL. I HAVE TAKEN MYSELF DOWN FROM NEURONTIN 1200MG THREE TIMES A DAY TO A BEDTIME DOSE. I AM BLOND BY BIRTH BUT BECOMING "BLONDER" WITH THIS MED. I CAN'T REMEMBER SQUAT, WHICH I NOW KNOW IS "NORMAL" WITH NEURONTIN. THIS IS MY FIRST POSTING, READING YOURS HAS BEEN A BLESSING, I AM TRYING TO DECIDE IF I WANT TO GO THRU THE SURGERIES, THEY SAY IT WILL TAKE 2-3 OPS PLUS REHABS IN BETWEEN. AT MY AGE IS IT WORTH TAKING THAT TIME? IT MIGHT BE THE BEST YEARS I HAVE LEFT. INPUT PLEASE, AND BEST WISHES Crys
