We are pleased to announce the availability of a free public LogMeIn Hamachi online game network available for use with all DKS games.

The DKS Open Lobby network may be used for league or casual games for any sport in the DKS library. In addition, we are also offering FREE league specific lobby's for leagues wishing to operate with their own private network. Several league lobby's are already operating successfully. League members only need the basic client installed and will have access to all league members (up to 256). If you are the commissioner of an Action! league and would like a private lobby please let us know.

Users will need the Hamachi\LogMeIn client installed on their computer to use the networks. This is a free download: https://www.vpn.net/ The free Hamachi client allows users to connect with up to 5 others users. However, each DKS lobby\network counts as just one user!

To log on to the network:

Network Name: DKS Open Lobby
Network ID: 337-515-697
Password: dks

Additional general public networks will be opened as needed.

Have fun!

Nice...now I have a question. Does this include the Golf game?
I am not very familiar with the "Hamachi" client.
I do know, one can play the Golf game via the internet using a program called Team Viewer.
Thanks for any response.

I have installed Hamachi but can't figure out how to actually connect for a game. I get a list of other users in a small window. Can anyone help?

If you right click on someone who is online, you will see "Chat". If you are playing this person you will see an IP address to the right of their name. Enter this under "join game session". The other person will select "Host game session." They can accept your request to join and you are connected.

I am also interested in compatibility with the Golf game.

The golf game does not feature a direct-internet play mode.

If you were so inclined, you could use "Team Viewer" or some other third party desktop-sharing freeware to allow you to connect to a specific person (provided you share credentials with one another).

I've played a number of head-to-head golf matches with another live human that way.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears there is no more free version of LogMeIn Hamachi. When I tried to log into the DKS site, because I had done so months before, I got a message saying my 14-day trial period was up and I had to buy a subscription to continue.
The cheapest subscription is $199/year!!!!
There are discussion threads all over the internet where people are furious at LogMeIn, not so much that they are charging for the software but rather that the prices are exorbitant and LogMeIn apparently gave even paying customers little or no warning.

I'm wondering, therefore, if any of you are still logging into the DKS game network on Hamachi for free, and what's the secret to doing so?
I can't get in -- period -- without LogMeIn asking for my $199.

I just noticed that my rather discouraging reply was the last post on this subject, and I need to update.
Putting it simply, the problem was solved. Hamachi works. All of our playoff managers were able to use it.
So if you're trying to play online, I urge you to consider using the Hamachi client and the online lobby generously supplied by Dave Koch Sports.

I am reprinting parts of my post from a few weeks ago:
I got Hamachi to work. I think downloading the app requires a cursory "sign up" at first -- i.e., email address and password and agreeing to the LogMeIn terms and conditions. No big deal. A second screen appears and wants your name, address, phone number, etc., but I think this can be ignored or, at worst, filled in with bogus answers.
Once you "sign up", however, it appears you don't have to log in again.
Just run the app, turn Hamachi on, join the DKS Sports Lobby network...and look for your opponent. (Better to change your Hamachi lobby name to something recognizable, otherwise Hamachi assigns you a generic name).
Previous messages in other threads are correct -- it's easy, once you do it the first time.
Those new to online, as I was, need to recognize that there is a difference between the commercial LogMeIn Hamachi product and the FREE Hamachi Client. You want the latter.

I can't speak for everyone, but I am baffled to hear the handful of people who claim Hamachi did vile things to their computer or modem or whatever.
It doesn't rewire your router, it doesn't permanently change your device's IP address, it doesn't contain gluten.
You simply run the client and it runs in the background while you're playing your Action PC games. The only IP trickery involved is that when you "join" the DKS Sports lobby for the first time, it assigns you a lobby IP address (which begins with the number 25). This is the IP address that your opponent will look for to join your game session. If he is hosting, you need to type (or copy) his Hamachi IP number in when Action PC asks you for it.
You don't need to go into router's internal settings. You don't need to disconnect anything else.

Hamachi is your friend. I didn't want my earlier confusion to discourage anyone from trying it and taking advantage of Dave's generous invitation to use the DKS lobby to play our games.
