What a dumb choice to buy or even consider the Patriot missle defence system.. THAAD would suit Turkeys interests alot better and increase your importance in the region and within NATO..

When the USA and NATO were negoticating with Turkey to host the radar system defending Europe and Israel from those crazy IRANIANS the Turkish government should have made protection of the site part of the deal.. instead they have acted like the gypsy's that they are and first, begged for Patriots to defend Turkey against the "aggressive Syrian state" and second, now pay attention falcon.. made the USA supply the THAAD system as part of the deal..

Yup, Insted of using such great oppurtunity to acquire THAAD, We used it to lower the price for the system that is rather inferior. Hell, from the quick research i did, even UAE (Arabs and not much a cradle of democratie)ordered some.

The requirements are clear, we buy an existing system but in return of co-developping a better system (more or less like Israel co-developped the Arrow system with the US)

It's take it or leave it, the Chinese are willing to cooperate.

...........And the others are not !

The HQ-9 it is, then!

Oh yes we do. Why would the Americans, Russians and Europeans be willing to share such a sensitive , cutting-edge technology with the Turks?

Only the Chinese are willing to play. They did it with Kasirgas, Sakaryas etc.

Tayips requirements are strict:
1) He does not want to spend a lot of money. He needs something cheap.
2) He wants the money the money to stay in Turkey, because he wants to create "jobs for the boys"(ie Murad Bayar and the other guys at the Undersecretariat of Defence and TUBITAK)
3) He does not give a sh|t about quality. After all, "a missile is a missile", right?

We can all guess the outcome. And the winner is...............the HQ-9!

I think Gavur's making sense. The modified T-LORAMIDS program is pretty much pointing at the HQ-9 as the sole candidate that's replying to Turkey "we provide all of the above".

Now, the question is: Will Turkey succeed in developing a NATO-compatible high-altitude defense system based on technology to be "purchased" from China?

For some reason I reckon we'll end up with the HQ-9 hull with Roketsan engine and launchers operating on an Aselsan radar.

Well to begin with nothing wrong with Chinese tech, if they are the sole ones willing to share they are as much welcome

We need technology for heavy rockets, not only for SAM but also our space program

Theres nothing wrong with Chinese technology other than it stinks.. thats why the Chinese are trying to get the Russians to sell them the S-400, cause the system the Chinese are trying to sell to you, is nothing but a rip off of the Russian S-300..

Besides i doubt that your American masters will allow Chinese equipment to protect NATO air-space and the all important Radar centre..

So if the NATO and USA do not want Chinese SAM System integrated in NATO defense shiled, so they have to share and co develop with us!

If not we will get those HQ9 and will updgrade them to NATO standard.

Greece has also S-300 in her inventory and is NATO member!

Where is the problem?

The problem is that NATO wants you Turks to take responsibility for your air-defences YET at the same time they want you to rework those defences into the new radar station that Turkey tried so hard to get stationed on it's soil.. whereas the Greek S-300 systems were bought through the back door by Cyprus and are stationed in Crete and only switched on when NATO flights aren't in the area.. concerning the HQ9's being upgraded to NATO levels makes no difference cause the Iranians and the rest already know what they can do and how to avoid them, negating their effectiveness.. if Turkey purchases the Chinese systems it's saying to the Americans that it doesn't view Russia, China and the Iranians as threats or foes.. there lies the problem..

The Russians shared their S300 (or maybe even S400) technology with Koreans in Korea's own domestic Cholmae-2 Medium Altitude SAM system. Maybe we can go for the Russians too in this one.

we show more times that we do not see Russia or China as a threat.

We participate with them in economics.
We put away visas.

What to show more?

We have no problems with no one, abd are only thinking about our own.

How to grow our economic.

Many EU members go the same way!

See Germany!

Where is the problem?

We will buy thhose HQ9, will upgrade them and co develop them!

We will integrate them and everythingis fine.

Our money will stay mostly in Türkiye, we wont get bancrupt like Greeks!

Ans everybody is smiling, except the griiks!

So when will the Turks decide? When will Tayip make up his mind? Does anybody know?

Tayip seems to follow what Oscar Wilde had said:

"Never put off for tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow"

He does not seem very eager to make a decision. I bet he will postpone again in 16 April. If he ever makes up his mind, we Greeks hope he will make the "correct" decision again.
