Diehl's IRIS-T-SLS shown with Polish SA-8 system

Key Points
IRIS-T-SLS integration is a private industrial initiative from Diehl/WZU
Diehl BGT Defence is already offerings its IRIS-T-SLM interceptor for Poland's NAREW requirement

Diehl BGT Defence of Germany has teamed with Wojskowe Zaklady Uzbrojenia (WZU) from Poland's PGZ consortium to integrate the imaging infrared-guided IRIS-T-SLS
(Surface Launched Short Range) missile as an optional surface-to-air interceptor solution as part of an upgrade of the Polish Armed Forces'
Soviet-era PRWB 9A33BM2/OSA-P (NATO reporting name: SA-8 'Gecko') 6x6 self-propelled surface-to-air missile system.

surface-to-air missile system during MSPO 2016 in Kielce, Poland. (R Hughes)

The upgrade of the PRWB 9A33BM OSA system - primed by WZU teamed with PGZ's Pit-Radwar and Mesko - includes a new NATO-standard Mark XIIA Mode 5 and
Mode S identification friend-or-foe (IFF) interrogator, new cryptographic computer, and new IFF antenna; new long-range thermovision day/night sensor,
new digital target detection, acquisition, and tracking displays, improved radio-electronic masking, a remote fire control capability, and integration of an inertial
land navigation system supported by a global positioning system (GPS) function.
