What tangible proof do we really have that the earth is a sphere?

Have you ever actually seen -official NASA- footage of a spherical earth, or a spherical moon for that matter?. If not, how come? And if you have not seen such footage, then how can you be sure the earth to be spherical? What tangible/empirical proof do you have? Does such footage exist in the first place? If not, how come?

So-called ecclesial books tale about cosmology, anthropology, ontology - so, what's all the commotion about then?

At 30,000 feet. The Earth is a sphere.

I think you've been hanging around Nucc a bit much. You seem to be acquiring his personality traits by osmosis.

Seriously, I observe the Earth to be spherical by being far away. Not sure why that fails your "logic" standards, but don't expect you to clarify either. Ho hum!

I find that most of your questions are "loaded", so to speak. Quite often they seem to be bait waiting for the most subtle ambiguity and improper response to be pounced on.

I have seen evidence, and deductive reasoning, that indicates with a high likelihood (a likelihood that approaches 100%) that the Earth is round. Not just round, but close to a sphere with slight bulging around the equator and compression at the poles. The most telling evidence being the shape of the shadow created on the moon during a lunar eclipse. There are other bits of supporting evidence for these ideas as well - from astronomy, travel, maps, satellites, and other planets & moons observed in the universe. But if you'd like to believe otherwise, that is your choice.

Since you asked.

And vague, and reminiscent of the "death by a thousand questions" mentality.

Subtlety can be a nice quality, but it isn't the same as vagueness and obfuscation. One clear statement can often save a thread of vagueness.

But maybe that's the goal.

Which is a distinct ontology in itself.

A clear ontology is worth a thousand obfuscations.

A cube (or any other arbitrary 3D shape) that spun would still exhibit the Coriolis Effect. If I understood my physics classes, anyway. But since I only got B's in the class, there could be lots I missed.

But then we'd have to explain how exactly the opposite occurs UNDERneath the equator. The only logical explanation then would be that we were UNDERNEATH the pancake and ... everyone knows it's not possible to have the same effects of gravity pulling upwards as it does downward. So-o, right there you have 2 things which prove the earth is turning and it's not a flat pancake.
