Leviticus 11:13-23 tells us about fowls (birds) and flying creeping things (insects) as does Deuteronomy 14:11-18 : it tells us that the bat is a bird, that birds creep and go upon all fours and that insects go upon all fours as well.

Leviticus 11:4 tells us that the camel does not have a split hoof as does Deuteronomy 14:7.

Leviticus 11:3-8 tells us that the coney, the rabbit, the shaphan and the hare chew the cud as does Deuteronomy 14:4-7.

Ergo, the bible is structurally telling porkies.

Maybe at one time some of the many books of the many versions of the bible were used as textbooks on what was then known about Zoology?

ecclesial books such as the bible tale about cosmology, anthropology, ontology, philosophy and so on with a lot of "opinion" in between - and it's the latter all the ruckus is about.......

blanket statements like that ... about the Bible.

The Bible is a collection of writings which span several thousand years ... written by dozens of different people from different time periods and relating to their own eras.

Now, if you're "attacking" Christian perception (which is generally flat-line with no comprehension on the 3 dimensional aspect of time) ... fine.

But the book ITSELF is more like an encyclopedia with much opinion thrown in. It's a REFERENCE book on the beliefs of Jewish people over a long period of time. It's not a monolith.

"a reference book on the beliefs of Jewish people over a long period of time"? (talking about blanket statements)

What's the talmud then?

... you ... in direct relation to your contention that "the bible is a reference book on the beliefs of Jewish people over a long period of time" (talking about blanket statements).

So, if the bible is indeed what you say it is, then what is the talmud?

But if you want to keep on avoiding the question, fine by me ... I like instant clarification. <img alt="wink.gif" src="/images/wink.gif" width="14" height="14">

I'm suggesting you answer your own question. Do you think you're incapable of doing that?
