He might fall to the early second round. But Giants have late picks in that round.

This will be the second former New Westminster Bruin's son who I will get to watch. As Boris Fistric's son Mark played for the Giants and was a first round pick. Interesting thing both Cliff and Ty are both five foot seven but Ty wears bigger shoes so hopefully he grows a couple more inches.

I saw him at the BC Provincials here in Kamloops, very skilled. Looked just like his dad actually, crafty and shifty. I am sure that 5'7" is a typical exaggerated listing though as it is for most players (Paul Kariya was listed as 5'11" his entire career). He had to be 5'4" at most. I was curious if he'd be a first rounder or not.

Giants Select Ty Ronning in First Round

The Vancouver Giants Hockey Club has selected Burnabys Ty Ronning with their first pick, 15th overall, in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft. Ronning played last season with the powerhouse Burnaby Winter Club, where he tallied 77 goals playing on a line with fellow 1st Round picks Mathew Barzal and Adam Musil. The 56, 140 lbs right winger is the son of former Vancouver Canuck, Cliff Ronning.

We are excited to add Ty, as we feel he has the potential to be a very entertaining, offensive player, says Giants Executive VP and General Manager, Scott Bonner. He comes from a winning program and obviously has a father that will help prepare him for the next challenges in his career.

Ty Ronning
Right Wing
Born: October 20, 1997
Hometown: Burnaby, BC
Previous Club: Burnaby Winter Club
Height: 56
Weight: 140lbs

That first line was fantastic, Barzal was as good as advertised. The WHL site has Ronning as 5'5", 130 lbs which I believe. Either way, he was tiny but good!

With Foster and Ronning, the Giants have some serious offensive talent coming along.

another 'giant' under 5"10 for you and TKO to complain about not being able to bang and crash like lucic.

I'm sure we're all looking forward to that.
