from taking it on and off. you ned a way to screw it on or clamp it

Make it non-removable. So you aren't tempted to use it in other ways. lol

Not having seen one up close (and out of the box) I didn't realize all the doodads on the barrel were part of the receiver moldings. I thought they were individual parts.

I sold my M417 not long after I got it (another story). But everything was molding in halves, that all screwed together.....
