or maybe more correctly, 1399 carbine stock mods......

<img border="0" alt="Photobucket" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v301/ ... kshort.jpg">

Stock after cutting the ~2.25 inches off, and JB weld and screwing on the3/4 inch plywood piece on

<img border="0" alt="Photobucket" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v301/ ... ekrest.jpg">

After shaping the added wood (belt sander and 80 grip belt). Loacted and drilled the holes for the cheek rest. I "repurposed"  the  cheek rest from the 1377 build gun. I didnt take a pic of the brass insert that contains the set screw to hold the rest in position

<img border="0" alt="Photobucket" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v301/ ... tstock.jpg">

stock back on the gun. Still need to clean it up a little and paint the raw wood. And it will need a butt pad of some kind, but I'll have to make that so it stays "thin" and doesnt add back the lenght I just cut off. That's tonights work.

I myself, do not care for the 1399 stock. Went the Gaska adapter/Magpul route, since I'm not adjusting it until I learn how and get a chrony, to worry about hammer spring access.

I didnt go the M4 stock route for a couple of reasons:  the extra costs, and then suddenly it looks like an AR, and that could be a liability

Everything I used for the stock mod was already in the shop, just a matter of digging it out

I've done similar looking cheek rests from PVC pipe, but cheated and used extra long screws down through the top and spacers to get the right height.

I plink, therefore I am.
