just spent half a cup of coffee purusing the 2100 exploded diagram. Seems to me much of what I just learned sbout the 760 could be moved rightover to the 2100. Metal clamshells, somewhat longer pump stroke, single load pels (sorry andy ), soda straw barrel looks looks like some SSR efforts would be easy and stock looking,

and tahts just from the exploded pic......

I know lots of people rave about the 2100/Airmaster 77, but they don't do anything for me. I have a 2200 (.22 caliber version) and don't care for it at all.
I had the 2200 apart to see if the tube could be used in the 760. The valve is smaller than the 760 valve. The innards of the receiver are even harder to figure out than a 760, and mine doesn't even have the BB loader parts in it that the .177 versions do. The two-piece piston (half metal rod, half 1377 piston) pulls apart sometimes when you open the pump lever, the pivot/barrel band is not too sturdy and the barrel flops loose in the tube. I guess that could be fixed if I liked the thing enough to fool with it. The whole rifle feels wobbly when I pump it. The plastic stocks feel more plasticky than the 760 and that stupid tiny little loading port is for the birds. You'll wish it used those 760 mags real quick. I guess the accuracy is OK. Even I have my limit when it comes making excrement shiny, and this rifle is it! LOL!!!

Other than that, it's not bad for the $35 I gave for it as a closeout at Dick's Sporting Goods a few years ago. I'd hate to pay full price.

If the M417 is based on the 760, I'd say no, but then I'm not Dan!

The inside of receiver is totally different that the 760. Best option might be to look for an old metal framed 760.
