Hi all,

So I posted some pics of my 2289 a few weeks ago, just had a chance to do some 90 meter shooting yesterday with a mild (2-3 km/h) cross wind. Shot with JSB Exacts @ 10 pumps. Here are the results:
The group measures 2.8 inches, for 8 shots.

Done anything special to the '89?

Yeah, I think the key to this particular gun is the free floated barrel. Every gun is different, but before I cut the barrel band off my groups were a measly 2 inches at 50 yards. Now there usually an inch or less I just need to make a breech band now :p

in terms of design, and execution. Clean, simple, elegant.

Textbook example of "less is more"

Thanks,

Id really like to make it air conserving. I feel like it will never be done, especially when other projects get in the way. That said, I dont mind high effort pumping, I just dont like to pump it many times. Im toying with the idea of keeping the valve volume close to stock, and adding a gauge (not sure on pressure, perhaps 0-1500 psi) and a HDD. Maybe lighten the hammer more too. Right now it will retain air at 12-13 pumps, and im using a 2200 hammer spring with nothing cut off of it. The valve spring is stock with enough coils that there is preload about a mm before you screw the valve completely shut. Right now 10 pumps is around 16 fpe depending on the pellet, and ive only pumped it more than that a handful of times. Id like to see 22 fpe on 10 pumps with an air conserving setup, which I think is reasonable. Maybe steve will chime in, I am sure he has some knowledge to share on this subject

Anyway I should stop ranting and eat dinner!
