what happened , when did we decide on 177(i know its 4.5mm) and when if ever was the 175 pellet made??. I always thought based on low efficiency springers that a .125 barrel would be cool. small cheap bearings, high velocity, easy to recycle, etc

It started with lead shot.
#BBB = .190
#BB = .180
#1 = .160

#BB shot was used in airguns back in ye olden days. Don't know why they didn't use #BBB. Then Daisy came out with .175 steel shot for use in their guns. Lead BB shot would jamb so you HAD to by Daisy's steel shot. I think that is the standard size of steel BB's still today.

I wish they'd used triple B shot to start out with. Maybe we'd gotten to .20 a lot sooner and wouldn't have to deal with itty bitty .177 pellets!

I plink, therefore I am.

what i loved when i owned 25 cal , never loaded a pellet backwards and really never dropped em either..on the other hand , i wouldnt mind having a really high capacity .125 ball bearing gun, i would imagine it wouldnt take much to get thoise up to speed.
