Hi Bill,

Yesterday while visiting a friend in Carlsbad, CA, I googled the Littler Lane address and did a quick, polite drive-by. Very eerie. That house, and that neighborhood, have not changed since the 1970s. There's a definite energy near the Littler house.

It prompted me to ask you a couple questions, if you don't mind?

1) What, if anything, do you know about Helen Hennessey? To your knowledge, did Paula or Paul ever meet her?

2) How did Anissa and Helen meet?

Thanks so much for your time and insight.

I just don't know a lot about Helen,I've never even seen a picture. I don't know how Anissa met her. Brian K O'Hara knows a few things i can e-mail him and see if he will come in here and answer your questions.
If Paula would have got a hold of her or anyone there that night it would not of been pretty, and Paula was that way about it until Paula died.
But I do know this , someone in that house ripped Anissa off AFTER she died. Money, Guitar, and a necklace.

But like I said I'll e-mail Brian ansd see what I can do,e dosen't like this forum.

Thank you so much, Bill. From what little I've gathered, Helen herself has a very interesting story, culminating with a nearly invalid state from drug addiction and dying from AIDS in Hawaii following a porn career that began at a young age.

I understand Brian not wanting to post here, so if he'd prefer, I'm happy to pass along my e-mail address. Please tell him that so it might make answering easier for him.

Thank you!

from what i've read, Anissa met Helen in 1974, when Anissa was put into juvenile detention as a runaway by Paula. Anissa was so tiny and younger looking, the judge had her put in the hall with younger juveniles to protect her from older, bigger juveniles. but that may be true or untrue.

how strange and ironic that at 3 a.m., August 28, 1976, Anissa held Helen's hand and asked for her undying friendship. as if somewhere deep inside, some knowledge was there, of a shared tragic ending for the both of them. if that story is true.

but why would 14 year old Helen, invent that, that morning, in the middle of her shock and agony. this was a 14 year old, who almost surely had never experienced the death of a loved one before, nor seen a dead body before. and that comment that is attributed to Helen, "I'm proud a famous person died in my house.", people condemn her for saying that, but this was a 14 year old, what does anybody know at 14? a 14 year old on drugs? if you think of what became of her, you can have nothing but forgiveness and pity for that poor litle girl.

Thank you, New York Fan, for helping with the answers. I, too, had read that they met in juvy, but I'd always questioned the validity of that because of how far away the LA juvy is from the one in Oceanside, which is a good 90 minutes from Los Angeles.

I also wonder about both quotes. Who knows if that conversation between Anissa and Helen took place? Or if the "famous person" comment is true, either?

Of all the people there that morning, Helen had the (second) most to lose. It was her house, her father would be coming home to learn that the babysitter died in his bed. Who knows what she would have said in such shock?

From what I gather, Helen's family would like to blame Anissa for Helen's substantial drug problems, perhaps in the same way Paula and Butt Out would like to blame Helen for Anissa's death.

Regardless of who said what and why, two such tragic stories. I do hope someday there are more definitive answers, but I appreciate you both taking the time to respond.

Helen was in deed a handful. After her parents divorce, she lived with her father Frank. The Littler house belonged to him alone. Her older siblings, all of whom were out of high school, were with their mother or on their own completely, as Helen was starting her 8th grade year in a matter of weeks following Anissa's death and needed to be in town.

She was in fact adopted, and there was a fairly significant difference in the ages between her and her siblings. As a result, she craved the spotlight and sought it through being a prima donna, and a definite trouble-maker.

She had not, however, done a stint at juvenile hall. She met Anissa through the Ciardelli sisters, whom Anissa met through Belinda. Paula C. and Helen were close during junior high but drifted when Paula went to Torrey Pines High and - I apologize for not knowing exactly which one - Helen went to a different high school.

In fact, from what I gather (as information is rather vague on Helen and my research has all been quite piecemeal) following the Anissa incident, Helen's father ruled her with an iron fist and sent her to a reform school. He never quite got over his anger, and he was in deed a drinker, so I imagine Helen felt little comfort at home.

Her family did blame Anissa for the trouble and rapid drug use of Helen's that ensued, yes. But they also took it out on Helen by treating her with great disdain as the black sheep. And Helen gained a reputation socially for being an obnoxious little hotshot, a bit too big for her britches, and displaying an ill-conceived invincibility that far outshone Anissa's.

Shortly after starting reform/prep/private school (whatever the case might have been), she dropped out and met the wrong crowd. And when I say wrong crowd, I mean they make Anissa's druggy friends look like the Brady kids. Helen found her way into porn at a very young age, and at first found it to be an exhilarating way to give the big F you to her family. And it fed into what she desired most: attention.

A truly low-life boyfriend convinced her to move to Hawaii, where for 10+ years she found her way into some truly degrading porn (which neither I nor her family have ever seen, and for obvious reasons). She did contract HIV, which developed into full-blown AIDS, and only when her diminishing frame (exacerbated by around-the-clock drug use of the worst kind) gave way to startling bare bones, tooth loss, etc., was she forced to cease porn.

Her time in Hawaii was horrific. She was degraded, passed around, and basically sold. No one among her cared for her in her time of sickness, and the rest of the story is in fact a mystery, but she did not die in the company of people who loved her or cared for her.

I have yet to see a picture, but from what I've learned, she was a beautiful girl. Throughout her life she maintained long, flowing hair that alternated between light brunette and summery blond. She was perpetually tan.

Much of what she told the police the morning after Anissa's death was in fact B.S. If you read the report, you'll know that Carla claims to have slept in Helen's room, yet at 3 am Anissa allegedly went to Helen's room to announce this highly suspect proclamation of friendship, which many consider to be a flat-out lie in Helen's efforts to punctuate a friendship with Anissa that was not nearly as close as she led people to believe.

I find no fault in either of them for what happened to the other. They're both such sad stories, but Helen's is one with even fewer facts, and what I've presented is only what I could find from research or at least anecdotes that come from reliable sources. For reasons I imagine you all will understand, I will not name names or report certain horrific facts out of respect for those to whom I've spoken over the years.

Had I thought there was genuine interest in Helen's story, I would have posted sooner. I've kept my distance from this board for a long time now, but I'm pleased to see more thoughtful, curious discourse about Anissa and her final years.

I hope this answers some questions.

I can assure you I am not Brian. I doubt anyone would remember me even if I gave my name. I never made much of a "splash" here.

If Brian has more info on Helen, I'd love to hear it. Finding a pic of her is virtually impossible, I fear.
