automatically switches over to japanese! so you can see why I am frustrated. downloading the browers is okay though....

Another O/t, using Chrome this minute and it is the ONLY browser allowing me to post on WUS !!! figure that out! I use flickr and BBcode and it works great! Had been trying all the other browsers to post on WUS but always got the blank page after sending REPLY!!!

sorry, this should have gone under Peter post on Linux and ubuntu

what might be loaded on the hard drive.
So, if you are getting Japanese, the CD isn't booting. When the computer boots from the CD, the Japanese OS doesn't even get started so there is nothing to do any translation.

Firefox which came installed on the CD. Seems pretty simple so far. Will I lose all my pictures, and business forms, etc. on Windows if I replace Windows with Unbuntu?

that way you will be able to go back to Windows any time you like and you will have access to all your files from Ubuntu. With Open Office, you have complete compatibility to all your MS Office stuff

I like GIMP better. Once you setup GIMP to look like Photoshop, you'll never go back

If there are any Windows apps you want to use, you can install WINE which will run them in Ubuntu(provided you have installed it in a dual boot setup.

Since ubuntu is already installed, can I still set it up to show dual boot choice at the startup?
I had to turn computer off and restart, then choose ubuntu....
