Poor DS had a febrile seizure and had to be taken to ER in an ambulance. He had his adenoids out on Friday then had cold yesterday. His fever spiked quickly and he had a seizure. It was the scariest thing to watch. Thankfully I had read about the in Baby 411 and knew they weren't too dangerous. ER checked him out and waited for temp to come down. We were there for only a few hours. Poor DH had an awful Father's Day until we brought him home smiling and ready for bed.

So as an FYI, it isn't too common but be on the lookout if your LO's spike a high fever.

The saddest thing was we were next to a small baby strapped down in a neck collar. DCS and social workers were in there. I cried for that poor baby more when I got here and knew DS was ok.

How awfully scary for you guys. As a parent of a child with epilepsy, I know all too well how terrifying and helpless you feel watching your child go through that. I hope you NEVER have to experience it again.

Huge hugs to you,
Meg

I am so happy to hear that your DS is ok......My one twin just had an xray and it came back her adnoids are enlarged. We go to ENT next friday. Why did your DS have his adnoids taken out?

Watching a baby with seizure is my biggest fear of mother hood. My younger brother had seizure when he was 2 yo on a high fever and I saw that, my mom is nurse and she rapidly put her finger on his mouth to hold his thong to prevent suffocation, I was 8 ....it was scary. I am sorry for ur experience and I am glad he is ok.

I bit through my uncle's thumb to the bone once I was told (I was 2, don't recall). I had my last at 5 - if he had one, he might have another - so as soon as you get a tiny fever take care of it so it doesn't climb.

Mine were set off at 103 or more.

I don't recall them - except one ER visit that I eneded up having to stay due to a severe illness

He snorts and snores all of the time. It's a very easy procedure. He was back to normal Sunday morning then got the virus that afternoon sometime.

He's 7 now and doing just fine! It never happened again. I'm sure it was a scary time but glad you know exactly why it happened.

p.s. I got the Baby 411 book you mentioned and absolutely LOVE it! It almost always has the answers to my questions!
