....allora!

I'll continue the report from the XII Meeting Club Panerai in Viareggio/Italy with my 3rd and last part below - the activities of last saturday:

oooops - wrong saturday. Wrong meeting... my bad - LOL!

Here we go with the activities of last saturday:

Piero Lapiana arranged a visit at the naval base in La Spezia.
After the sailing ship "Palinuro" in 2009, we were able to visit
the "Nave Bersagliere". We arrived at the Arsenale in La Spezia by
bus with the entire group. Some of our italian friends came directly
to the Arsenale and went with us to the "Bersagliere".

We passed the famous sailing ship "Amerigo Vespucchi" which was "at home":

Soon later we arrived infront of the "Nave Bersagliere" (Pattugliatori di squadra - Classe Soldato) F-584:

Find some info on the ship here:

http://www.marina.difesa.it/uominimezzi ... liere.aspx

During the guided tour by members of the crew we noticed the strong relationship between Panerai and the Navy.
Some small details but also largeer and important installations...

In use: Elettrosegnalatore GPF 1/58

In use: Elettrosegnalatore GPF Q/300

In use: Indicatori di rollio (on left side of the helicopter hangar)

Some photos taken on the bridge:

Hagen and Ralf during "mission briefing"

Accurate timing is important...

Well... a little bit of a surprise to see instruments of this brand too...:

Beside tools, also a well known material could be seen in many corners of the ship: bronzo!

Asi was checking out the OP-Logos on this deck surface floodlight (SAE 400)... He will bring some more infos on this kind of stuff later in the POF - stay tuned!

Before we left the ship, gifts changed ownerships. Piero handed over a memorial plate to the kind officer...

...and received a crest of the "Nave Bersagliere" in return:

Together with members of the crew which guided us in two groups thru the ship:

(thanks Kathryn for taking these nice pics!)

We left the naval base and went to the "Circolo Sottufficiale Marina Militare" in La Spezia for a delicious seafood lunch.

Sympathy for those in service - right at the entrance door. Like!

Another "bronzo moment" - Giancarlo's watch infront of a bronze sculpture:

In the bar on the first floor, Espressi were fleeding:

Mirko (officer of the Com.Sub.In. special forces), Jens (in the back), Ron, Donnie, Giancarlo, Asi, the megaphone , Hagen and yours truly.

New Tetris highscore?

Lunch started with a mmmmmmmmmmmh antipasti!

After the lunch some important (and funny) instructions were given outside with the megaphone:

We left La Spezia during rain and passed the famous white marble moutains of Carrara in clouds:

After we arrived back in the hotel, weather became more nice and it was time for a walk. Right into the icecream "Pinolata" - special pine nuts flavour:

Sun showed up while we crossed the little bridge which connects Lido di Camaiore with Viareggio:

Walking along the promenade, enjoyed the summer...

...passed some historic buildings - word!

Reached Viareggio's carnival totems...

...the mascot "Burlamacco" - Ciao!

Seems like he loves Panerai too?

Switched into b/w mode on our way back to the hotel:

Had to catch the Ferrari red - so I switched back to color mode.
Ron was about to drive the last meters (NOT!)

During dinner it was time to make some noise!

ooooops... not this kind of noise - but this:

Marcus live performance - soundtrack "Once Upon a Time in the West"

Piero and his wife Rita announced the giveaways, sponsored by Club Panerai and Panerai itself:

Hagen's turn to receive his goodie bag:

Donnie "I like to - MOVE IT!" Edwards:

I leave some space for a caption here....

(my guess: some discussions between Grappa experts?)

Again some "......allora moments" (LOUD!)

("sharkman-sanchez" style!)

("I-can-drive-you-home-just-put-me-behind-the-steering-wheel" style)

...and Asi in the middle!!!!! OMG!

I hope to see some further photos from the meeting here as well.
As far as I was told on the next morning, the night was short, very short...

Another great long weekend in Tuscany found its happy and funny end.
It was good to see new faces and old friends. That's what its all about.

My thanks goes out to Piero, Rita and his friends who organized again a very nice meeting.
For me it was a little "anniversary" - the 10th time since 2003. Always worth the way and hopefully next year again - a presto!

One last advise, found at the Pisa airport:

True!

Saluti,
Volker

ooooops... not this kind of noise - but this:

True!

(photo courtesy of Marina Militare / www.marina.difensa.it)

For me it was a little "anniversary" - the 10th time since 2003. Always worth the way and hopefully next year again - a presto!

(photo courtesy of Marina Militare / www.marina.difensa.it)

Gotta love those flood lights! Don't let me on there with a screw driver in my pocket.

No matter how much things can change around here....things stay the same over there.

Thanks for sharing, mate!!
I really enjoyed that!

Cheers!

Great images and love the captions M8! I think the Mini Megaphone will make its way to a few more GTGs.

Great to see a lot of Panerai hardware still being used on the ship. Really shows how deep the history is of this Brand.

Looks like a great weekend for all who were there. TFS.

True!

Saluti,
Volker
