When you went to the Al.an Bee.r Inst.itute, did you have an endometrial biopsy done? Why do they request it done?

More importantly, how are you doing?

yes, i got the endometrial biopsy. my local OB did it and sent it in. they do the test to look for NK cells in the uterus, i believe. if i had to do it again, i'd also do the endometrial receptivity testing at the same time. i read about it here, but i'm afraid i can't remember who did it. i think it was maybe through yale and dr. kliman? maybe i read about it on the donor egg board?

i'm doing pretty well, thanks for asking! got a raging yeast infection yesterday and luckily my OB squeezed me in - i would have been freaking out if i hadn't been able to confirm what it was. since i was there she was kind enough to confirm the heartbeat/measuring on track at 9 wks. now i'm gearing up for genetic testing and just hoping, hoping for the best...

how are you doing? how are those two that fertilized doing? i'm hoping to hear your good news soon!

So very glad to hear you are doing well and the LO too! What kind of genetic testing will you do? CVS? I've read conflicting info on the CVS that there are false positives for some things. Hoping for a H&H 7 months upcoming for you!!!

Just registered with Dr. Be.er and going through the testing now. Thought why not cover all my bases to make sure all checks out. So, how do I get to request an endometrial receptivity test - would the Be.er Institute request it also if I ask? Hate to miss out on a month of trying naturally since we are b/t cycles to do this endometrial biopsy, so I might just chance it!

I'd love to email you, do mind sharing your email address? My email address has my name in it or I would share mine. Guess I could create a new email address too?

i really don't know about the endometrium test, but i found a reference to it on the donor egg board. i think that may the only place i saw anything about it, but it piqued my interest, that is for sure. and i kind of did a gradual progesterone supplementation on my successful cycle, nothing official, but...

you have to read well down into the link to get to the stuff about kliman and the endometrial function test. i don't know if the b.eer center knows about it or can run the test, i'm guessing they don't. anyway, for those looking to leave no stone left unturned, it seems like an avenue worth pursuing - both the gradual progesterone and the endometrial function test.

What would you do - just the endo biopsy or the endo receptivity one or none? This cycle is natural and looking ok this far...meaning starting to get CM at the right time now at CD 7-8 since I surge on day 9, 10, or 11 on natural cycles. I just hate not to try this month! Been running every other day 3 miles to get my blood flow going and using castor oil massage in order to get a better lining. Now with the CM I'm encouraged that this cycle is a good one. Guess I could still TTC this month and do the biopsy - stranger things have happened right??

Thanks for all the lovely info!! So happy that your LO is growing right on track!!!! Can you remind me what you did on the antibiotics. I'm afraid that the Al.an Bee.r Insti.tute will not get all my bw by the time I need to have it done. I just took the first round of bw yesterday and then will do the next set on Monday for the immune testing. How long did it take after the last bw to get your consult??? Pushing to have it all in place by next round next month.

thanks, kim. i don't remember how long it took to get the results and consult with the b.eer center. i suggest you try to go ahead and get an appointment with dr. s.tricker in anticipation of when your results will be in. the staff is actually really helpful and smart and you should feel free to talk with them candidly about your goals. i know exactly what you mean about not wanting to lose a cycle, but their reply will be about how you don't want to risk another failed cycle that was doomed because of immune issues. i actually did, much to my dismay, pass on 2 or 3 cycles when i was getting the testing done with them. but i already knew something was going on with me from testing i insisted on with my RE (antiphospholipid antibodies, anti-gluten antibodies...). i guess you just have to decide how great you think the risk is that you'll get pregnant and lose it to an immune response. you can always quickly jump into immune treatment if you get pregnant, but i think they think that the treatments have greater effect if they are initiated prior to conception.

as for the endometrial testing, the b.eer center will really want you to do it with them to test for the NKs in the uterus. they test for NKs in both the blood and the uterus and then in the lab they test the endometrial cells' reponse to IVIG to see if it will be an effective treatment for you. the kliman endometrial test i really don't know much about. i posted a link to some details here. but my thought is that if you are getting endo samples, you might as well get some for both labs and test for both. they are testing for completely different things. i wished i had known about the endometrial function testing so i could have done that at the same time. poke around on the donor egg board, the links i posted, and google yale and kliman and you should be able to find out about the test. i have no idea what it costs or how long it takes. but again, if by chance you have an issue with endometrial receptivity that can be treated i think it would be worth knowing about.

what a lot to deal with! i was in the same boat, wanting to make sure i covered all the bases before giving up. i guess the best advice i can give is to stick with it so you won't have any regrets. a lot of women have success when they diagnose the immune stuff. oh, and if you haven't already you can check out the yahoo reproductive immune group. another great resource.

good luck, kim!!

yes, I called last Friday to the Be.er Inst.itute, and the admin people are very nice! They said that once my bw results came in that they would schedule a consult without the endometrial biopsy so they don't waste time - their words! Great to know they are moving fast. Tomorrow DH and I go for the 2nd set of bw so I would presume they would have all the results by the following week, so I might take your advice and schedule a consult a week from this coming Thursday or Friday if they will let me.

Thanks again for the advice!! I'm leaning toward the endo biopsy now. I really think it has been my lining or something else rather than all bad eggs...just a gut feeling. My linings and AF have been less over the last couple of years, so sure it is the age factor and something else (but not sure what). I feel like the running helped me last year to get to a 7.5mm lining (although we used viagra in that cycle), but used the viagra and no running in another cycle and the lining did not increase. I think the blood flow is better for me when I run....wondering if there is anything else I could take besides the aspirin daily that I take - so hoping Bee.r Inst.itute finds something.

are you taking coQ10 and fish oil? i think those helped me. i'm glad things are moving forward at b.eer center. let me know if you have any questions i can help with as you move forward. i still think you should try to do the endo function test at Yale while you're at it. someone just posted a link about it on the donor egg board.
Good luck!!
