Hey all, I wrote a few months back, freaking out after getting menopausal symptoms after going off the pill and a fhs level of 59.

Well, after 2 rounds of progesterone and no period to test for actual fhs levels, I saw a fertility specialist. His thoughts just on my symptoms alone was I was experiencing ovarian failure, but ordered the ultrasound to be sure.

Had the ultrasound this morning and the nurse called a few hrs later. There were no follicles present and I could come in and talk about egg donor options.

Just to be sure I understand (since I'm unclear at times between what is fact and what is opinion), are no follicles the end of the road? That cant change can it?

I'm supposed to go back to my ob this week to see about hrt options....

I'm 35. Went off the pill in June to see about my fertility and started in with hot flashes, etc...no period since, even with 2 rounds of progesterone....

My advice to you is not to waste your time with OBGYN. i am sorry to use harsh language but they usually dont know shi**t about fertility. I did the same I wasted my time with OBGYN for one year cause first I didnt know I have fertility problem, i just couldnt get prg, i went to 3 OBGYN and non of them diagnosed me correctly, my follicle count is 2, where it should be 30 at my age, and non of the OBGYN pointed that to me till I went to an RE, they didnt even bother to test my FSH!!!!. i didnt have fertility insurance I was trying to save money on RE office visit.

second I am sorry you are going thru this. my advice to you would be find a good FSH friendly RE. if you are in NY go to cooper and see Dr. check or Dr. Owen Davis. i am 28 and my FSH is 28 and still not prg but this might not be the end of the road for you. Keep us posted and just know there are many women younger and older in the same shoes as you are and we are all here to support you.

At the time you were tested you did not have any but you may have some later. It does not mean you have no eggs left. See an RE for further testing. Wishing you luck.

I don't know if they will be able to help you, but in some situations like this some extremely strong herbs and acupuncture can reverse these situations. I would talk to someone ASAP.

OBs dont know jack sh*t about fertility. it kind of amazes me actually. i had a m/c in jan and wasnt able to conceive 3 months after that. i asked for clomid and my OB said "no" and i said "fine, ill just go back to an RE bc that's how i got pregnant with my son and i dont want to f*ck around with TTC on my own for a year bc my OB says too". she said that i didnt need to go to an RE bc im still young and i have very regular cycles. long story short, went to RE right away, against the OBs wishes, and he found the elevated FSH/low AMH right away. switched to a different RE who did clomid + IUI with me and im currently pg. if i had listened to my OB, and had listened to the "wait until a year if you are under 35 to seek help" crap, i wouldnt be pg right now. obviously everyone's situation is different but this is just an example of how OBs really arent that helpful when it comes to fertility.....

Hi Jamie, thanks for the reply.
About 6 weeks ago when I first got the blood work back I start acupuncture with a fertility specialist--started on the wheat grass shots and chinese herbs then too. The last 2 visits she really thought I was going to start my period based on my tongue color but it never happened. When I told her of the news she basically said it was terrible and she understood if I didn't want to come in for my appt. that day--nothing like "oh come on it, it can still work!" ....so I guess I'm done with that treatment? Its all really confusing!

I have an amazing acupuncturist in FL where I live. Regardless of where you live, she might have a list of fertility acupuncturists in various locations. She's very, very well versed in all of this and very successful with difficult cases and has attended quite a few conferences with other fertility acu's.
