Officially in 2ww after IUI - Lupron Question

Officially in 2ww after IUI - Lupron Question

I had a 25 mm follicle on one side and a 17 mm follicle on the other after EPP and high stims (Lupron, Follistim, Menopur). Isn't Lupron supposed to prevent the lead follicle from taking over? Can it be safe to say that the lead follicle seemed to absorb most of the meds and prevented the other ones from growing more (I had 3-4 on each side at baseline)?

I am worried that the 25 mm follicle was too big and the 17 mm follicle was too small for the IUI to be successful. Does this sound reasonable?

I am already looking onward to my next attempt at IVF. I am hoping to skip the Lupron and try low stims instead. Any thoughts?

Thanks ladies and hope that all of you are doing well!

Should I be using the Endometrium that I was prescribed for IVF? My RN did not mention doing this so just wondering if I should take it anyways? Thanks!!

HI!

I am exited to hear how your two week wait goes - i am sure that the doc. would not have transfered it if they were too big or too small. You have a chance after all. Just think possitive thoughts- think about it implanting and sticking- my RE told me that many women do not realize this but in my case, if i keep worring and thinking about low progesterone, I WILL HAVE IT!! "brain talks to the ovary" his words...hahaha
are you going to do hte next round of ivf all over or are you just going to use frozen eggs from last retrival?

good luck again, please keep us informed :P)

I actually decided to convert to an IUI since I only had 2 follicles that had grown significantly. I will definitely keep trying to think positively. Thanks so much!!

Oh, so that "next round of ivf" is if the iui does not work, right??

How much longer until you find out anything?
- how much into the 2ww are you?

Hi Brewersfan- Sorry you had to convert to IUI this cycle, but I'm hoping it turns out well for you! In my IVF cycles, I got mature eggs out of follicles that were 13mm at trigger, so very unlikely that they were greater than 17mm at ER (which I think would correspond with your IUI day). I think there's definitely hope for your 17mm and maybe even smaller ones! For me, much above 20mm at trigger meant the eggs were overcooked and smaller turned out to be mature, but everyone is different. As for P4, I definitely recommend taking it since it can't hurt and can only help in these early days. Wishing you good luck and a quick and painless 2ww!

And on lupron, I had terrible luck on full-strength lupron, but did great on MDL ("microdose lupron" which is much lower strength lupron). Next round I would probably try MDL or an antagonist (Cetrotide or Ganirelix). For some people, estrogen priming also helps prevent lead follicles (this worked for me as well). Good luck!

Yes, the next round of IVF is if the IUI doesn't work.

Thanks for asking!

Thanks so much for answering my questions, Erin! Very interesting that you were able to get mature eggs out of follicles that were 13 mm at trigger. I had 1 of those so maybe I shouldn't count it out.

I was actually taking Leuprodile which I think is a generic version of Lupron. Thanks for explaining that there is a difference between full-strength Lupron and microdose Lupron. I did 3 injections of Cetrotide prior to my cycle starting (along with Vivelle patches).

Someone mentioned that we are like guinea pigs and I think that this is a great explanation!

Any thoughts about how much Endometrin to use and when to start using it?

Thanks again and hope that you are doing well!

I wouldn't count the 13mm out- I had more than one at that size that turned out to be mature. As for the endometrin, I would start now. Usually people do 1 or 2 supps a day- morning and night- (some Che.ck patients even do 3/day I think). I personally would start at 2 a day, but I'm kind-of a "more is more" person in the beginning. Will you be checking your P4 (and E2 if possible) during the 2ww? I think it's a good idea if your RE will agree. Usually you would do it several days before beta. Hope that helps and wishing you good luck again!

I am assuming that it is to check whether or not I truly ovulated. I agree with you that more is more and start to take Endometrium twice per day.

Thanks again, Erin!
