Hi I had unbelieveable pain and very difficult to walk around after a few weeks with the 22G 1 1/2 needle. Just switched to the 22G 1 inch needle last nite and feel a lot better. Hope all the medicine is being absorbed. Doctor felt it would not be a problem. Did anyone else have similiar experience? thanks

With along needle it is possible to hit a deep nerve. I did this one time and it took two days to get my hip pain free. I don't think there is much you can do except wait for the irritation to subside. If it doesn't go away in a couple of days talk to the doctor.

the higher the gauge number the narrower the needle, so you can get 23g or even 25g needles that are 1" long and still be able to push the PIO through. You can buy boxes of these needles on Amazon or wherever if the pharmacy doesn't give them to you, they are not expensive (maybe 15 bucks per 100 needles, same brand as pharmacy uses, no prescription needed for needles).

Thanks, it is my second day using 1 inch needle with 22 gauge, it is going in fine and no terrible side effects. Thanks for responding, I was afraid it wasnt deep enough. I am normal build, not super skinny or fat. The doctor said I was so small, I dont think so, so I was afraid it would get stuck in the fat and not hit muscle. I am very close to test for preg. I want everything to work, but have followed her recommendation for the last 2 days . Did you have a postive preg?

I go in for a depot shot twice a week. I live near the clinic so it's not a problem. But the pain from some of the shots is pretty bad. The one before last (5 days ago) is so sore I have trouble with my panties touching it and I wake up if I roll over. I have noticed though that it'***** or miss.

Kudos to you who do it yourselves.

I switched to a 23G 1" needle and that is a little more tolerable - but still a pain in the keester! I wish I had someone to give me the shot.

I had no idea that the progesterone could make me SOOO sleepy and moody and hungry and thirsty all the time. Starting a couple of days ago I cry at the drop of a hat. Then I have to laugh at myself - because I'm not crying about anything in particular!!

I finally got a sticky pregnancy. Knocked me on my butt. Good luck!
