Original post:

After several betas (decreasing to 10 then increasing to 50 again) and some severe pain and a trip to the ER, it turns out the problem with my pregnancy is that it is ectopic. Being treated for it today.

I didn't even know that was a remote possibility with an embryo transferred directly into the uterus. I guess anything is possible in the crazy IF journey.

So very sorry wishing you a speedy recovery. On a positive note you can get pregnant, and hopefully next time will be successfull.

Yes, my RE warned me that a certain percentage of DE IVF txs do result in ectopics. Agree with Denise: the good news is you can get pg. {{Hugs!}} Maggie (in VA)

I am so sorry to hear this.

I have a friend who recently recovered from an ectopic after transfer. It took a while but she is now trying again.

Again I am so very sorry.

No treatment today. They re-ran HCG and the number soared (quadrupled) over the weekend to 201.

So, since they haven't actually been able to see the pregnancy, yet, they want me back on meds until another beta on Wednesday. They were assuming ectopic due to the fluctuating HCG and the accompanying pain.

I also had an ecotpic with low initial betas but then it started to triple. I had what felt like super bad gas pain. It got worse right up until we saw it was ectopic at 6 weeks 2 days. It didn't burst though. Just let the Doctor know if you are in a lot of pain. There have been several ladies on the boards who thought they had ectopics because of weird initial betas and they have their little ones now. So hoping your little bean is in the right place!

xoxo, Tracy

Thanks for sharing your experience... Sorry you had to go through that, though.

Somehow I think that is what's going on with me, too.
