Someone mentioned it below (I think minniet), I can't seem to find what the concern is. Wondering if it causes DNA fragmention SSRIs have been linked to fragmentation, not sure why the FDA is putting an infertility warning on Propecia?

It mentions infertility and poor semen quality at the end. I believe ICSI can overcome some types of poor sperm quality if the issue is low counts or morphology, but not if the problem is fragmentation?

"Specifically, the FDA has ordered Merck, the manufacturer of Propecia, to add Propecia side effects warning language that alerts users of this medication to the possibility of developing sexual side effects that include libido disorders, ejaculation disorders, and orgasm disorders. These Propecia side effects can arise even months after someone discontinues use of the drug. In addition, the labels will contain a new description of reported cases of male infertility and poor semen quality that improved after patients stopped taking the drug."

My RE asked if my DH could stop his Lipitor about 2-3 months before cycling... Anyone had this experience and know what the issue is with statins?

And he said he has tons of patients on it, and has checked with male fert specialists, and has seen no bad effects....he is not worried about it. Not sure he was just trying to make us feel better after our failed cycle...

This new FDA warning is absolutely crushing for the pharmaceutical companies, expecting the stocks to tank and lawsuits, hard to believe it is nothing. Proscar is taken by so many men for prostate health conditions, I think Propecia is taken for hair loss (but it could be for prostate as well since it's the same drug?). Maybe the SCSA lab has more info about why the FDA considers infertility/ poor sperm quality a side effect of this med.

If it is working for a man, honestly, most will keep with it.

On the other hand, there are a slew of new drugs coming out in the next 5 years which will put Propecia out of biz...(at least from what I am seeing...)
