Hi,
Thank you all for your great advice for my abismal lining the other day!

I went in for ER today knowing full well that if my lining was still thin, we'd try to freeze the embryos and then try again with a FET next cycle... and that's what happened. It did get up to 5.5, but neither one of us (or the doctor) was comfortable moving forward today because if it didn't work, we'd all be kicking ourselves.

So we're totally bummed, but what option did we have really?

Do any of you know roughly how long it might be before AF arrives and we can start over with a FET cycle? Soon, I hope! We just want to do this!

The bigger question, of course, is what to do beginning TODAY to get a relatively head start on making my lining good enough in the next few weeks.

I plan on continuing everything I had been taking... l-arginine and vitamin E. I've also been going to the same acupuncturist for 2.5 years and she recently started using the Dr. Dao lining protocol with lots of success, although it hasn't worked for me just yet. I assume I should stop the estradiol now, right, and wait for AF? PIO will stop, etc. I just don't want to be rushing again next cycle two days before transfer trying to magically increase my liining

What would you all suggest I begin doing NOW, before AF starts?

Also, what could be causing a thin lining? I was told that there's no scar tissue or anything. Could it just be my "thing" to not have great linings? The RE who was getting ready to do the ET today looked up my file and noticed that the cycle I got pg with my daughter 2 years ago, my lining was 7.1... better than 5.5 but nothing to write home about. I'm just so nervous that there's something majorly wrong, although the more I read about so many of you with lining issues, the more I'm convinced that it's one of those things.

Anyway, thanks for listening and for all of your advice!

I was on the Lupron microdose protocol and read something here about lupron possibly impacting the lining. The RE said probably not, but any thoughts on this?

Also... should I continue red raspberry now or only after AF? How about fish oil? Would that help and if so, starting when and till when in the cycle?

Thanks!

l'Arginine or any other herbs as I believe it may impact negatively on a cycle and none of these are approved for use in this way. These herbs may interact with estrogen/progynova etc. and I would steer clear. I wouldn't do any TCM except acupuncture.

Fish oil I would continue as it has good anticoagulant properties. There is also some evidence that 75mg aspirin may also have a beneficial effect on womb lining, so you may want to investigate this.

Other medications used to increase lining are Terbutaline, Trental and Viagra vaginal supplements - again worth investigating.

You may be someone who does not absorb the oral estrogen very well, or who may need a higher dose from the start to build a thicker lining. I was the same and took 4 x 2mg progynova (oestradiol valerate) tabs. daily in order to get my E2 levels up before my successful transfer. You may need this or more to get blood levels up.

IMPORTANT: I found better results putting the tabs directly into the vagina. Have you been doing this??

I assume you have had an hysteroscopy to check for any other reasons for thin lining?

Have you been tested for any clotting issues? APS, MTHFR etc. There may be some impact from these on blood flow to the uterus. Worth checking this out with a basic clotting panel.

What about other issues like thyroid etc?

Apologies if I am going over ground already covered by you, but just trying to cover all bases!

I hope you find some answers.
Best,
Daisy

Interesting! I hear so many different opinions that it's hard to know what's right. My acu of course believes strongly in l-arginine, etc, and my RE does, too.

I've never been tested for clotting issues having had a successful pregnancy (gave birth last summer 2009)... would it make sense to test for those now given this?

Thanks for your input!

recently, inherited clotting disorders seem unlikely. However, running a basic panel if not too difficult for you do to could be worthwhile.

I would definitely investigate the extra estrogen vaginally, plus aspirin and maybe ask about viagra, trental etc.

Have you had an hysteroscopy since the birth of your baby? Just wondering about that and any other uterine issues.

Have you had your thyroid tested recently?

I would just get in place as many of these as poss. before cycling again if you can.

It may in the end be that you need mega high doses of E2 vaginally (or even via injection/patches) and/or something like viagra.

this past May. The RE who was getting ready to do the transfer though said that according to my file there are no issues...

I'll mention everything you mentioned... thank you!
