Betas in..don't know what to think

Hi everyone,

These last 10 days have been excruciating for me. I feel for every woman waiting on pins and needles. My friends don't even know how to be around me, because I don't even know how to be around myself right now.

So, my first results are in. My HCG level was 16 on weds. and they'd like it to double by Friday. Mine only rose to 24.

Does anyone have experience with this? Know anyone who has gotten pregnant with a less than optimal number?

Thank you for your help and support,

It's really too early to know for sure now. I'm so sorry you're caught in limbo like this.

I've had 8 transfers. Two had bfps. In neither were my betas good at the beginning. The first time it dragged out for weeks and weeks before I m/c and the second time it started VERY low (less than 5 at 12dpo) and rose OK, but kept rising up to the levels that indicated a genetic problem. That time was my success.

One thing, though. Isn't it BETWEEN 48 and 72 hours that it's supposed to double?

I'm hoping for you.

I don't know what the numbers mean, but I'm rooting for you and your little one! I know what you mean about the pins and needles... waiting for such important news is hard... my beta is Wednesday...

It doesn't look good. I just hope it picks up, they do sometimes. I have a lady pregnant at the moment who started at a beta of 34 at 10dp4dt, it did rise accordingly after that.

Thank you for your help and support,
I had an initial beta of 16 with OE several years ago. I had no idea that the number was low at first and happily watched it rise, discovered midway through that odds were against us, saw a heartbeat, but it did not work out. I later learned the odds are quite high of not making it past the first trimester when the initial beta is low.

However, I had another friend with the same RE who had a similarly low beta and has a son now.

I am sorry you are in this position, honestly, it was the most stressful time of my life. Sending you huge hugs and hope.

If the latter, I'd have more hope. The first beta is in line with what a singleton beta would have been for mine that day (9dp5dt + 51 beta = twins). I know the doubling time (82 hrs assuming both tests were the same time of day) looks a bit worrisome but low not quite doubling in 72 hr betas often become perfectly babies. Wish I knew odds for you but will just pray that the betas take off for you).

Can you help me define 9dp5dt? I think the 5dt is the 5-day transfer and yes, I did transfer on day 5, my first beta was on day 8 and second on day 10. Transferred 2 beautiful blasts.

Thanks for your support.

So, if the eggs were transferred on day five and that was, say Nov 10, the 19th would be 9dp5dt.

Hoping for you.

I am thinking of you and hoping for rising and increasing numbers. I for sure felt I did not know how to be around myself during these waiting periods either. It is so stressful. I don't know enough about betas but will hope for the best for you.
